I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but, This shit happens almost every year. At what point do you say, "Live there at your own risk" why should tax payers in other states pay to rebuild FL?
Yes, it's Live there at their own Risk for almost all but the poorest people.
Wind and Flood Insurance is mandatory for anyone with a mortgage who live anywhere near the Gulf Coast. And its ridiculously expensive... as it should be. Every neighborhood located in coastal areas have different ratings. And FEMA cannot be used to cover properties that already have insurance.
Those commercial building buildings we all see that were razed to the ground will be rebuilt by the companies' insurance.
Some locations might be deemed too high risk for Neighborhoods and abandoned. That happened in the Houston area after Ike.
FYI - By the looks of the this bill, it appears the money being sent to Florida pales in comparison to the tens of billions we keep sending to Ukraine. How fucked up is that?
Base on your reasoning, the people in Ukraine should have been forced to join Nato decades ago, knowing they were high risk. Especially after the US (and the West) convinced them to give up their nuclear weapons.
Yet, here we are... hemorrhaging over 50 billion to them. And Asshats like you chirp up that FEMA is going to spend a few Billion in Florida.
"The package included a third tranche of aid ($12.3 Billion) to Ukraine for its battle with Russia, on top of a total of about $54 billion approved earlier this year. With the vote on Friday, Congress has now committed more military aid to Ukraine than it has to any country in a single year since the Vietnam War, reflecting a remarkable bipartisan consensus in favor of pouring huge amounts of American resources into the fight as the nation seeks to reclaim more of its territory from Russia."
But they... the right parties get their hands greased and the next phase will be a bonanza as well when it's all over they need to rebuild in Ukraine.
