Note that I'm only talking about full length studio albums, so no live albums, no mixtapes, and no EPs. And by "great", I mean anything you'd rate at least a 4/5. A lot of amazing artist don't qualify. Nirvana, for instance, only have 3 studio albums, so they're disqualified right off the bat. Also, as much as I love David Bowie, he had quite a few mediocre albums disrupting his run of greats IMO.

Off the top of my head, I can think of the following,

The Beatles
-Help!
-Rubber Soul
-Revolver
-Sgt. Pepper's
-Magical Mystery Tour
- The White Album

Black Sabbath
-Black Sabbath
-Paranoid
-Master of Reality
-Vol. 4
-Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
-Sabotage

Iron Maiden
-Iron Maides
-Killers
-Number of the Beast
- Piece of Mind
-Powerslave

Swans
-Filth
-Cop
-Greed
-Holy Money
-Children of God

Also, they might be the only artist with two runs

- The Great Annihilator
- Soundtracks for the Blind
- Our Father Will Guide Us Up a Rope to the Sky (this one's debatable IMO. It's a lull in quality between what came before and what came after, but I think it just barely crosses the threshold into greatness)
-The Seer
- To Be Kind
-The Glowing Man

Björk
-Debut
-Post
-Homogenic
-Vespertine
-Medúlla

Outkast
-Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
-ATLiens
-Aquameni
-Stankonia
-Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

Danny Brown
-The Hybrid
-XXX
-Old
-Atrocity Exhibition
-uknowhatimsayin?

Opeth
-Orchid
-Morningrise
-My Arms, Your Hearse
-Still Life
-Blackwater Park
-Deliverance
-Damnation
-Ghost Reveries
(Bonus points for having the longest run I can think of at the moment)

If we're going by what's highly acclaimed by reviewers etc then here's mine:

Elton John:
Elton John
Tumbleweed Connection
Madman Across The Water,
Honky Château,
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player, Caribou, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Caribou
Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy

Joni Mitchell:
Ladies Of The Canyon
Blue
For The Roses
Court and Spark
Hissing Of The Summer Lawns
Hejira

Stevie Wonder:
Music Of My Mind
Talking Book
Innervisions
Fulfillingness First Finale
Songs In The Key Of Life

Prince:
Dirty Mind
Controversy
1999
Purple Rain
Sign O'The Times

Aretha Franklin:
I Never Loved A Man The Way I Loved You
Lady Soul
Aretha Now
Soul 69
Spirit In The Dark
Young Gifted and Black

Queen:
Queen
Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack
A Night At The Opera

Some near misses:

The Clash
-The Clash
-Give 'Em Enough Rope
-London Calling
-Sandinista!

Combat Rock just misses the mark IMO. It has some great songs (Straight to Hell is my favorite Clash song, but the album as a whole is horribly unfocused IMO.

The Velvet Underground
-The Velvet Underground and Nico
-White Light/ White Heat
-The Velvet Underground
-Loaded
Squeeze is absolute hot garbage. I can't really think of a bigger drop in quality in any artist's discography honestly. 0

Ramones
-Ramones
-Leave Home
-Rocket to Russia
-Road to Ruin
End of the Century is so close. There are some great ideas, but it just barely misses the mark

Kendrick Lamar
-Section. 80
-Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City
-To Pimp a Butterfly
-Untitled Unmastered
Damn is another close call. It just barely missed the mark IMO.

grateful dead

go to heaven

Danzig 1 4/5
Danzig 2: Lucifuge 4/5
Danzig 3: How the gods kill 4/5
Danzig 4: 4p 4/5
Danzig 5: blackacidevil 1/5
Danzig 6: Satan's Child 5/5
Danzig 7: 777 4/5

That's a solid run -blackacidevil of course.

Guns N' Roses:

Lies
Appetite for Destruction
UYI 1
UYI 2
The spaghetti incident (covers)

The 5th one is just covers but the first 4 are ridiculous. I still listen to them.

I'll add :
Genesis - Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound, The lamb lies down on Broadway, A Trick of the tail, Wind and Wuthering.
King Crimson - Entire discography
Gentle Giant - From first to 8th album
Rush - At least 10 great albums
The Doors - Almost entire discography

Radiohead:

The Bends
OK Computer
Kid A
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief
In Rainbows
A Moon Shaped Pool

U2:

Boy
War
Unforgettable Fire
Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
All That You Can't Leave Behind

When would you say U2 were at their peak? Give a timeframe

Would Michael Jackson count? Because Off The Wall and Thriller are his highly acclaimed albums. Many critics feel he fell off after Thriller and his fans feel Bad and later are not good.

What do you all think?
