Always found The Rock a little tiresome, tbh.

Did you start watching wrestling in 1995?

Heyman has a legendsry mouth and could get an audience bloodthirsty for action, but Rock could go out there and make garbled animal noises if he wanted and make the audience love it, there is something to being so over you can't fail.

Heyman's promos are good, but his voice is barely sufferable. So The Rock takes this. Especially when he was in stories written by Vince Russo, he just had the best stuff to say and go off on.

Yeah. Heyman is more articulate and can create a serious angle or storyline or otherwise drive a point home better on the mic.

The Rock in his prime was much more charismatic than just about anyone.

They have two very different strengths in their promos. I don't know how to classify which one is better. Heyman can be used for more things (manager/authority figure/etc...). The Rock could make himself a huge star and sell his PPV main event matches.

Point is?
You missed some great promo guys from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.

Superstar Billy Graham, Dusty Rhodes, Jake Roberts, prime Ric Flair, prime Hogan, prime Roddy Piper, prime Randy Savage to name a few.

You can find a lot of their promos on YouTube if you want to go back and see it, but it probably can't be as appreciated as being around when it first happened. Still though, with today's mic work largely being passionless crap, it's worth looking into if you are wrestling fan.

Jake Roberts' promos are of a type that after watching you'll question why you even bother watching today, that man was another level too!

I have been watching the midsouth and Mid-Atlantic from 80s, alot of stumbling and tripping over words and even camera shyness, but even those very awkward promos at least felt real in the sense you were getting the words from the horses mouth. Felt like their own words and like actual athletes giving answers as they're being asked.

The Rock is top 3 all time on the mic.

Heyman is not.

I prefer paul but the tock is mlich better at entertaining a casual/ general audience and getting butts in seats. But sd other said, heyman does a more in depth sorry telling better

Two very good guys,I would say The Rock but imo theres not loads in it

Been enjoying Dan Lamberts mic work too, although hes not in the leagues of Rock & Heyman
