MAGA Derek Zoolander Convicted for Role in Capitol Riot

John Strand rejected a plea deal and waged an online campaign for vindication. Now, he faces a possible 24 years in prison

So proclaimed John Strand in a text after entering the halls of Congress last Jan. 6. The message was part of a seemingly endless procession of evidence — including photos, videos, tweets, texts, and more — documenting Strand’s role in the riot that was displayed before a jury at the D.C. District Court in Washington last week. Strand was convicted on all five charges he faced on Tuesday, and now faces up to 24 years in prison.

Strand’s potential sentence is so harsh because he refused to take a plea deal, instead opting to fight the charges against him before a jury and through an absurd online campaign for vindication. Strand, a model-turned-Covid-19 conspiracy theorist, posts regularly on his social media channels about how he’s being persecuted, and set up a website splashed with glamour shots and links to donate. “FROM GUCCI TO GUILTY,” reads a banner on the site. It’s as if Derek Zoolander stormed the Capitol and then did all he could to secure the longest prison sentence possible.

Strand reportedly wore a pair of stylish silver loafers during closing arguments on Monday, during which his own lawyer called him a “poseur.” It didn’t work. He was found guilty a day later of four misdemeanors related to unlawfully entering the Capitol, and a felony charge of obstructing an official proceeding. The felony conviction itself could put Strand away for 20 years.

Capitol Rioter Who Assaulted Cops in Front of Teen Son Gets Harsh Prison Sentence

Kyle Young, the 38-year-old Iowan who admitted to assaulting police during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as his 16-year-old son tagged along, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison on Tuesday—one of the harshest sentences to stem from the riot. Young admitted to using a strobe light to disorient police, before throwing a large audio speaker at a line of officers. An investigation also revealed that Young, a HVAC worker, handed a stun gun to a fellow rioter who then shocked Officer Mike Fanone with it. Fanone said during Young’s sentencing that the assault, which preceded a heart attack, cost him his career. “What I hope you do with that time [in jail] is I hope you suffer,” he told Young. The sentence matched what federal prosecutors had requested as they argued the “barbaric” assault took place in a violent portion of the insurrection. Young’s defense argued that he was was he “injected” with lies about the 2020 election and was not in a proper state of mind.

Officer Fanone Says Jan. 6 Rioter’s Mom Apologized in Court—Then Called Him a ‘Piece of Shit’

Former Washington, D.C. police officer Michael Fanone says he was repeatedly called a “piece of shit” during the trial of one of the men who attacked him during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Fanone made the allegation while speaking on CNN after rioter Kyle Young was sentenced to seven years in federal prison Tuesday for his role in the attack, which included shocking Fanone with a stun gun. “When I was walking back from the podium delivering my victim impact statement, an individual who was seated with other relatives of Mr. Young stood up and called me a piece of shit,” Fanone said. “He was quickly escorted out of the courtroom and then out of the court building by the U.S. Marshalls.”

Fanone added that he believed the remorse expressed by some Jan. 6 rioters and their relatives is merely performative in order to try and secure more lenient sentences. “His mother stood up and tried to apologize to me in the courtroom,” Fanone said, referring to Young’s mother. “And then later on, as I was leaving the courthouse, his mother and several other individuals who were seated with her in the courtroom again called me a piece of shit. So I think it’s just another example of a January 6 defendant begging for leniency, but in reality there’s no remorse there.”

7 years of maga tears. anyways i hope that this maga muppet enjoys his stay. perhaps when D-Bo comes into his cell and puts that honeybun on his pillow, he'll think happy thoughts and imagine himself in a better place. like wherever steve bannon is right now after he stole their money and donald trump pardoned him.

so this chud likes to assault officers. well i guess we know one thing then. the prison guards are probably going to be looking the other way when the other inmates go into his cell and help to rehabilitate him. 7 years of this buddy. good luck!

Reading what they said in court to the officer that was assaulted, they have ZERO remorse. It's a fitting sentence for what he did to that Cop. It said in the post that Kyle Young was "injected with lies" from Trump?

He's about to be injected with something else for the next SEVEN years. All for someone who wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

"A bodybuilder who in the past has gotten work as a model for the covers of romance novels has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer while taking part in the January 6th riots at the United States Capitol building.

As NBC News reports, 41-year-old Michigan man Logan Barnhart pleaded guilty to dragging a Metropolitan Police Department officer down the stairs at the Capitol and pushing him into a mob of Trump supporters who continued assaulting him.

Barnhart also pleaded guilty to shoving law enforcement officers and swinging at them with a flagpole.

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Barnhart told U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan that everything in his guilty plea was "100 percent true."

Trump's legal troubles mount as Oath Keepers plan to throw him under the bus at sedition trial

AA12m9Gl.img

"The Department of Justice has a treasure trove of evidence against the Oath Keepers. Two of the members charged with seditious conspiracy have already struck deals, pleading guilty and cooperating with prosecutors. In addition, the government has a mother lode of text messages between group members that not only showcases their planning but also their links to Stone and other people in Trump's orbit. Unable to deny that they were up to their necks in seditious conspiring, the five Oath Keepers are going to trial with a novel defense: Blaming Trump for telling them to do it.

"They intend to tell the jury that when armed teams of Oath Keepers made plans to rush into Washington from Virginia on Jan. 6, 2021, they believed they would be following legal orders from the president himself," the New York Times reports. Because they claim to have been acting on orders from Trump, the defendants plan to argue they believed the insurrection was legal. "

Michigan man accused of dragging officer down stairs at Jan. 6 Capitol riot enters plea

A Michigan man who police said helped drag an officer down a staircase during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot has entered a plea.

Logan Barnhart, 41, of Holt, has pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement with a dangerous weapon during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot

U.S. Department of Justice staff said Logan Barnhart, 41, of Holt, pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers with a dangerous weapon.

He is to be sentenced March 9.

U.S. prosecutors said Barnhart was “part of a mob” that confronted law enforcement officers at the “Archway” leading into the U.S. Capitol building from the Lower West Terrace.

Prosecutors said that, as another rioter was striking at a Metropolitan Police Department officer with a crutch, Barnhart came up to the officer. Both Barnhart and the other rioter grabbed the collar of the officer’s ballistic vest and dragged him down steps near the “Archway.

They dragged the officer into a crowd where other rioters beat the officer, prosecutors said. The officer had injuries that included bruises and abrasions.

Prosecutors also said Barnhart later used the end of a flag pole to try to strike at officers.

Barnhart is one of more than 870 people arrested in relation to the an. 6, 2021 Capitol incident, federal officials said.

'You’re going to die': Jan. 6 rioter who filmed himself assaulting officers pleads guilty

WASHINGTON — A Donald Trump supporter who filmed himself assaulting police officers and breaking into the Senate chamber during the Jan. 6 riot pleaded guilty Friday to two felony charges.

Tennessee resident Ronald Sandlin, 35, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers.

Sandlin's friends and co-conspirators, Nathaniel DeGrave and Josiah Colt, previously pleaded guilty: DeGrave to the same two felonies as Sandlin, Colt to felony obstruction.

The trio attended the "Stop the Steal" rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, but watched Trump's speech from a TGI Fridays in Virginia where they were having lunch. After they arrived in D.C., Sandlin repeatedly referred to the U.S. Capitol as the "State Capitol building" before storming the building as alarms blared, court documents show. He then joined the mob to try to open fire doors to let more rioters in, grabbing an officer’s helmet in the process.

“Get out of the way! Your life is not worth it today,” Sandlin told officers, as he recorded himself. “You’re going to die, get out of the way!”

After rioters made their way to the Senate, Sandlin began shoving officers who were trying to lock the doors to the Senate gallery. "Don't you lock another door!" he yelled at them, telling other rioters to "grab the door."

Once inside the Senate chamber, Sandlin celebrated with a selfie video. "We took it. We did it," he said, while crying and wheezing inside the Senate gallery. He later smoked marijuana in the Capitol rotunda, declaring that he'd "made history" and that this was "our house," according to court documents.

Sandlin also stole a book, and attempted to steal an oil painting, but other rioters prevented him from doing so.
