if their was a consensus vote, would Semmy be it?

Buakaw , very easy to answer no one comes close . He has a total of 51 fight under kickboxing rules . Got win over prime Sato ( twice one by KO and the other a dominant win ) , prime Souwer ( he KOed him ) , prime Albert Krauss twice , prime Masato ( completely humiliated the Golden boy in front of Japan and the world ) , got win over a prime and very dangerous John Wayne Parr , got a win over prime Takayuki ( biggest humiliation in K-1 history ) , outclassed former Radjadamnen champion Kozo Takeda ( might not be the most stellar opponent in K-1 rules but he was still whopping Thai with low kick and is the only one who really figured Buakaw out ) , Mike Zambidis ( made the all time great Greek look like an amateur ) , Askerov ( beat a very dangerous fighter twice ) , Mourad Sari ( "drawed" against a top 7 all time Farang , Sari later said that Buakaw was like granite ) , prime Giorgi Petrosian ( "drawed" against a guy that most consider the single greatest fighter in modern kickboxing history , most have Buakaw as the winner ) , Nieky Holzken ( made an already prodigious Nieky and future all time great look like a beginner ... twice , Ramon Dekkers was in Nieky corner and said that Buakaw impressed him greatly huge considering the guys who Dekkers has witnesses and fought ) , Faldir ( not that great of a win but still Faldir beat Orono and Bovee as well and fought some of the most elite fighter in K-1 rule ) , Yi Long ( Buakaw win by a somehow close fight compared to most Buakaw performance , Buakaw received 5 millions baht ) .

Buakaw got robbed against Albert Krauss twice , got robbed of a win over Petrosian , got robbed twice against Andy Souwer , got robbed by Enrikho Khel , got robbed by Joney Risco ( Buakaw even with a torn toe still scored more than the reigning Enfusion champ ) , arguably should of won against Khayal ( Buakaw won the last two rounds IMO ) , Got robbed by Yi Long in the rematch , Buakaw received extended rounds a total of 13 extended rounds in fights that he clearly out-pointed his opponent , When Buakaw got a flash knockdown against Masato he still barely out-pointed the Japanese at the end of round 3 but the judges didn't give Buakaw an extended rounds at all they didn't care if the fight should be decided with one more rounds no they just cared for Masato winning .

When Superbon got trouble with Ayanesh ( who would later beat guys like Dejrit ) in the first fight Buakaw just plain stomped Ayanesh and showed how it's done , when Wang Wehao beat Saenchai under Chinese rules Buakaw challenged the Chinese ( Saenchai even warned Buakaw that the spinning kick of Wang would cause problem ) what do Buakaw do ? He demolished Wang with ease .
Buakaw should of been a six time K-1 world champion . He beat all the so called "K-1 legend" in their prime while getting robbed and with the establishment against him most of the time . When other retired or were declining Buakaw was always one of those guy who can challenge everyone even the best , even at this age Buakaw still is in fighting chamop always training and always ready for any new up and comer farang .

BTW Buakaw in between also fought in Muay Thai and has win over JWP , Jomhod ( KO ) , Enrikho Khel , Azize Hlali ( KO ) , Dylan Salvador ( owned a great French Nak Muay ) , Andrei Kulebin ( made a generational farang look easy ) , Jordan Watson ( beat Jordan up , Jordan would later draw against Kem and also KOed Pongsiri ) , Nicolas Larsen ( old Buakaw crushed Larsen , who beat Yodkhunpol up , Yod would later be Lumpini champion ) , Victor Nagbe ( Nagbe has KOed Kem , Buakaw beat him twice ) , Kulyaba ( Buakaw dominated a guy that made Kem look very average ) , Gu Hui ( crushed Gu Hui who has a dominant win over Saemapetch ) , Artem Pashporin ( out-striked Artem twice , a very decent fighter who even made Yodwicha use his clinch under kickboxing to win ) , Yuan Bin ( beat a very tough Chinese fighter ) , Enrikho Khel ( made one of the best southpaw farang his girlfriend at Max Muay Thai ) , Vitaly Gurkov ( dominated a guy who has two win over Kem and one win over Saiyok and Tengnueng ) , Satoshi Kobayashi ( beat a guy who is arguably the best Japanese style kickboxer to have fought in Muay Thai ) , Yussef Boughanem ( beat a man who would later be the most dominant non-Thai Muay Thai fighter of his time ) , Sato ( made a one sided beating to a guy who gave him trouble two previous fight ) .

Also if people bring out the point that he doesn't fight Thai as being relevant in his resume then know that at least he doesn't fight Thai who has 0 experience in kickboxing . Also Buakaw never robb anyone there isn't one fight where Buakaw should of lost but he won .

Maybe in heavyweight K1, in kickboxing definitely not

Aerts by longevity on competing against high level

Aerts by longevity on competing against high level

Aerts is a heavyweight , he got KOed lots of time . Those heavy all beat and lose to each other everytime while the 70 KG ( and other ) have been very consistent .
Will anything surpass the golden age of K-1 with all those huge legend KOing each other ? no.
Is the inconstancy of the heavyweight something that block their greatness P4P ? definitively .
Jerome Lebanner almost lose to old Nokweed Davy .
You'll never see a prime Buakaw losing to a fighter 34 KG smaller than him in K-1 ( or any other setting ) it just doesn't happen ( I know that body shape is unrealistic ) .
Buakaw and other great ( albeit from smaller weight ) like Sittichai , Petrosian , Souwer , Masato , Superbon , Sato , Takeda ,Takuyuki , Marat , RVR , Kaew , Wei Rui , Qui , Petpanomrung , Petchtanong , Ilias , Tenshin , Kyshenko , Yodsanklai , etc... are P4P better .
I've never seen Buakaw really lose under Kickboxing rules , except against Masato 2 which should of went an extended round and Buakaw would have most likely won as he was piercing Masato leg up and against Sato ( a guy that Buakaw crushed twice , also Buakaw looked like he got over-traiend or something at Por Pramuk ) .

Jerome , Badr , Alerts , Sammy , Hoost , etc... all received humiliating and embarrassing defeat ( not just losing , but getting outclassed many time and in their prime against guys that they shouldn't lose ) . in many period of their career . Buakaw and Petrosian and other smaller great never .

My vote is Aerts but I would say Semmy is easily the most dominant Kickboxer of all time.

The problem with these discussions is there is no real criteria for what "Great" means.

he had skills but his size made the difference.
if he was the same size as Ernesto Hoost and fought him he would get murk´d with the ease.
