Cues for engaging upper back in the squat

I don’t usually throw out numbers, but I’ve squatted 672 lbs and have no idea what you’re talking about or what this thread is about anymore lol.

  1. Active Tightness – The bar on our back will make everything want to compress. If you are not actively keeping your chest “proud” or spread open and your upper back tight, your thoracic spine will flex during your squat. This is why assuming the position illustrated in the video is so important. You must “dominate the bar” as Sully says. You must actively create the tightness. You must establish your Tarzan chest and maintain this throughout the entire movement.

    My best 13 years ago was 635.
    I’m gonna see if I can get closer at 41 to that range ; Starting going heavier on squats these days.
