Dern vs Yan pbp

Now that I finished the rest of the card I gotta once again question the scoring of that 5th round. Yeah Yan survived, got on top, landed some shots. But the round was completely one sided before that and what lead to Yan gaining the top position was Dern going for the armbar. So instead of a scoring criteria that encourages activity and going for finish, Dern gets punished for attempting something instead of holding the position.
Once again it comes to question of should the scoring criteria base on a fighter going for the finish and should it all matter anyway. But then you gotta realize mma is not a sport that "needs" to happen and little thing like these are what makes the sport appealing to audiences and thus keeps the sport alive. So in a way this kind of judging kinda damages the judges themselves in the process. And it's not even about favoring a certain fighter. It's all about what happened in the the the fight and that fight was a draw in my opinion.
