Why are we talking as if HWs have progressed so much skill wise the past 15 years. Of course Prime Fedor would be competitive in the UFC.

His loss against Werdum was because of the cage. He defended the first triangle attempt, then when he defended it the second time, his back was too close to the cage so he got stuck and couldn't pass. He got trapped by the cage which wouldn't have happened in the ring.

He lost to Werdum because his technique was incredibly sloppy because he thought Werdum was more hurt than he actually was. Fedor's body was on the cage for exactly one second in the fight. That isn't the reason he lost.

Every time a fighter touches the cage for the briefest of moments that doesn't mean the loss came as a result of the cage lol

Doesn't matter. In the UFC you had to fight the guys that were considered contenders. In Pride the title holders did freakshow fights much of the time. After Pride Fedor had the choice to fight the toughest competition in the UFC. Instead, he did what he was doing in Pride as well and picked fights like fight Matt fucking Lindland and Hong Man Choi.

I think he was caught anyway but he tried to wrench free and hit the cage,not knowing it was there.

But even if he had trained the cage his whole career that could still happen.

Zombie Big Nog was able to get an interim belt. The Big Nog that fought in the UFC looked NOTHING like the one that fought in PRIDE
Fedor beat prime big nog twice. The same big nog that beat Werdum(in pride) who became the future champion of the UFC

Exactly. Fighters that have fought exclusively in cages their entire career still get pressed up against the cage. It's the nature of fighting in the cage. Fedor's cage inexperience had absolutely nothing to do with the Werdum loss.
