Does Muay Boran work?

Does Muay Boran actually work in a real fight? Or is it impractical like most of Kung Fu?
I sometimes get bored of training Muay Thai and wish I can learn all the crazy moves I see in Muay Boran. It looks so damn cool.

Almost anything will work if you got better timing and control of distance, then the person you fight or spar against.

Don't people realise that any demo involving the ol' "hold your arm/leg out while I do fifteen moves on you" just diminishes their credibility?

I think it's fine to learn for the art and practice. It doesn't have much practical use in a ring. You can see people pull some techniques off sometimes. There are a lot of different forms and instruction is a circle jerk of grandmasters and institutes.
