My understanding is that the collapse is largely related to the mismanaged and corrupt nationalization of the oil industry and the way in which they heavily relied on it to fund the government and specifically the expanded welfare programs. You can't mismanage and corrupt an industry that you rely on at the same time and not expect that there will be problems down the line.

Even if Bernie's policies don't work they wouldn't fail in the same way and most likely not on anywhere near the same scale. The people crying about how Bernie will turn America into Venezuela are the right wing versions of the left wing crybabies who said Trump was going to turn America fascist overnight. We shouldn't pay much heed to either really.

He very well could. Anyone has a 40% chance when it’s two candidates. Me personally and from what I’ve experienced and seen people would rather have the guy who’s put green in their pocket then try a whole new one and I quote “another white man, might as well keep the one we got at least I’m making money” or “he’s crass and talks too much but I haven’t made this much in a long time”

many, many will hold their nose and vote for Trump. My prediction is landslide for Trump, but anything can happen

At the end of the day people vote with their wallet and Trump is a known commodity now
