- ISGS (Islamic State in the Greater Sahara ) was responsible for the Aug 9th 2020 killing of 6 French aid workers

- ISGS in the Sahel was also reposnbile for killing 4 US SpecOps soldiers and Nigerian troops on Oct 4th 2017. The US had a $5million reward for infomation on his whereabouts.

- ISGS is blamed for most of the jihadist attacks in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso

- The French have killed several top ranking ISIS personnel in the Magreb region and adjacent areas.

- ISGS also fought Al Qaeda in Mali and Burkina Faso
