Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Also binge rewatching (until season 4)

What ever happened to the poop and the pee, the poop man, the poopy boy, and poopin on tv?
Miss your old poopin friends, poopin just around the bend
Everywhere you pee, everywhere you poop
I can barely grab on to it
Everywhere you poop, everywhere there's a face that somebody can poop on
When you're lost out there and you'rr covered in poop
I am waiting to poop on your face, everywhere you go.

Bum-bum-bum-bum-bum-bum
Shitty-bop-padow

I would happily sacrifice every sherdogger and their momma to get just one half page of that book printed and released
Several full chapters were periodically released by GRRM years ago. They're online. He would do public readings of them.

Had a discussion the other day about why Sophie Turner's acting was horrible in everything outside of early GoT.

Came to this conclusion:
Early Sansa (the character) was an actor, and a bad one. She was trying to portray herself as a proper highborn lady, always polite, courtious, and proper. She was fake, and a bad one. Cersei even called her out on it. Sophie's sub par acting was actually perfect for her character. It was when Sansa's character started to grow a spine and become herself, that Turner's robotic acting became a detriment to her character.

Just my opinion

All the female characters became terrible after their source material dried up. GRRM is decent at writing from a female perspective but D&D and Co. were horrible at it.

I was never really on the Danaerys train but her character became insufferable from somewhere in S6 on. After Arya left Braavos, her character became one dimensional and stupid. You've already covered Sansa. The Red Woman was always dumb but it hit maximum stupid around the time she convinced Stannis to burn his daughter alive.

No debating on the characters themselves after the source material went dry (you could say the same for the guys, especially Tyrion, LF, Snow and Varys) I was referring more to the actress Sophie Turner herself.

1 year ago, S08 was about to premier.

Remember thinking at the time that I was prepared to accept "The Force Awakens" level mediocrity.

If the show-runners weren't so selfish / dumb / incompotent, we'd probably be getting S10 right about now.

Weren't also the actors who wanted to quit?

You expected Force Awakens mediocrity but we got a Last Jedi dumpster fire instead.

Though, that is true, IMO there was more going on than just that. In their attempt to be "shocking" they veered a little too far into a sub-genre of horror, torture porn, exemplified by the film "Hostel".

We all remember the SJW criticism of the show ie: that it was misogynist because of the terrible things that happened to the women on the show and which reached its zenith with Ramsay Bolton's rape of Sansa. (I am not looking to rehash those arguments, my personal feeling is that awful things happened to many characters and it did not seem that female characters received any more or less terrible experiences than the male characters.)

Point being, it seemed like D&D reacted to the criticism. Clever male characters suddenly become silly, bold male characters became passive and by the eighth season, almost all the male characters took a back seat to the female characters. I don't believe this was a coincidence. I believe it was a response.

All in all its' just another brick in the wall.

I just finished rewatching the entire thing (except I skipped all parts of Theon and Ramseys gay masochistic lovefest) and it was even better rewatching the entire thing all together in 5 days. Yes I finished it in 5 days, not like I got anything else to do.
