It really is amazing to think about. You have the 70s punk scene, 80s NY hardcore, the birth of hip hop, the whole no wave/noise/industrial, and even a handful of amazing pop acts for good measure. Sure, it was extremely dangerous/violent at the time, but it must've been an amazing place to live for a music fan.









 
nyhc sucked, though. in that same time period (well, early-mid 90s), it was btfo not only by philly and other big cities, but tiny ass syracuse and cleveland and etc.

I disagree (I'd only put LA, SF, and DC ahead of it), but fair enough. That's still literally only the TINIEST fucking portion of what I'm talking about.
