Bellator has always had mismatches and nothing to do with country or pride.
But you find that being more common in orgs like Bellator simply because the depth isn't there. They have to bring guys along to build them up and not waste matchups to early on between two better fighters that a year later might headline events. UFC HW's is usually a good example of this. Look at Cain and JDS both guys fought for 3 plus years in the UFC with zero loses during that time period before they were matched up and it paid off in 3 big events for the UFC.
Now, MVP that is just a whole other mess and no excuse in the world for what has happened there.
