How would Izzy fair in 2016-2018 MW Division?

He barely beat a 43yo Yoel coming off multiple losses and couldnt effectively grapple anymore. Basically became a boxer.

Izzy hasnt had to face serious grappling threats or submission grapplers in his run.

Chris, Luke, Jacare, Yoel when he could grapple, even Tim Kennedy are all fights he could lose. And hed lose multiple.

love the shertard response

Heres the actual detail. Romero had just been in bunch of all time wars, breaking people in the cage only to "lose" by judges scorecard

This forum is obsessed with the fight result with because contemplating the detail is too much for them ayeeee @StonedLemur

Volk beat max in the 2nd fight and in the 3rd too.... vastly different detail
So trivializing how good romero was when he fought izzy is just cope.

Romero was a killer when Izzy fought him, but decided to play a weird strat, Izzy did a counter strat to win,. and you get a boring fight.

The 2016 - 2018 division would not have fared much better. The striking, distance control, feints etc would all be new to these guys. Izzy has the same coaches and would game plan them. You know the same coaches giving Volk game plans to be some of the sports best.

Grappling won't work, you forget the distance control and how much damage they'd accumulate first. Sure Jacare is great on the ground, but he has to get Izzy to the ground first.

The delusion is strong, the butthurt is stronger. The "izzy will lose to grappler" narrative didn't pan out, so you have to fantasize about how he'd go when there where grapplers he hasn't fought... lmao

He'd probably be champ like he is now.

Most of this doesnt mean anything nor counter any of the points.

Marvin and Rob got Izzy down multiple times with control time and theyre both horrible offensive grapplers with nonexistent submission threat or GNP on the mat compared to Chris, Jacare, prime Yoel, Luke, Kennedy, Saucy.

Fact is Izzys run comprised of mostly strikers or of he fought the rare fighter who had some grappling offensively they had no submission ability or GNP like those guys. Grappling talent was at all time lows in MW division in recent history much like LHW and HW. Anyone who knows what theyre watching could see that.

You argument starts off flawed because you try and use Romero as a knock against Adesanya's abilities. But Romero's age has never previously him from from being arguably the most physically gifted 185er of all time and also one of the most notoriously difficult to beat.

Your other points are a little more fair but still aren't strong.

Honestly think Jacare would be forced to stand with Izzy. Weidman or GSP would be biggest threats to Izzy. Would have to see how Izzy does against Bo or Khamzat to make that call.

Izzy would not fair well. Idk how well he would do against a 2015 Anderson Silva, but that would be an interesting fight. Current MW division is in rough shape, imo. The only time it was worse was when Bustamante and Franklin dominated it (and I am a fan of both, there just was not that much competition),
It's about on par with the MW division Silva reigned over.

The strikeforce influx is probably when it was at its peak

Luke - izzy wins
Chris - Chris wins
Romero - 50/50
Jacare - Jacare wins
Mousasi - 50/50

I already elaborated on that. The 43yo version Izzy fought couldnt grapple as well as younger versions special due to cardio and having to pace himself.

Look at Yoel grappling VS Tavares, Kennedy, Weidman, 1st Rob fight. He couldnt sustain or fight like that in his mid 40s

More of the same. A cherry picked view of what actually happened.

Rob got Izzys back yes... and then what happened?

Izzy calmly got up, walked across the cage - all the while with rob on his back - and then shrugged him off.

And Marvin? Who are you trying to fool exactly? He got izzy down... tried for a rnc... izzy calm reversed it.

The grapplers you mentioned what exactly are they going to do? Izzy has trivialized every grappler he's come up against. How are grapplers of old going to do any better?

Given they will be beat up on the feet, have to close the distance a guy with some of the best distance control in the sport. A guy who's going to be calm and physically stronger than them.

Everything points to them doing nothing

Which you know - hence why you constantly try to cherry pick examples.

I think Weidman and Jacare have good chance. Weidman with his wrestling and great ground game can be a good fight. Jacare would have hard time taking down Izzy, but if gets one who knows. I think he beats them all, but Weidman and Jacare are nice matchups
