Or a very non BMF fighter like Movsar Evloev could be fighting for it in the near future if the undisputed champion had it, can't do that.

This is the same thing they said before about "Oh you gotta defend the title" but then Conor didn't defend once and went after the LW belt.

Also, Topuria has way more of a claim to being a BMF than others. He's straight putting people's lights out and he's @ 145.

Max has options. That BMF belt isn't a real title but it nevertheless lets him collect some PPV points as a headliner of a card. It's as useful as the real belt. Max doesn't really need to grind for the 145 belt. He is popular enough to fight the winner of the Mcgregor/Chandler fight, Dustin or even Olives again as the main event. There are a few guys that are slowly aging out but they might not beat the champion. They can do their own little circuit. It gets rid of rank squatting too.
