a friend told me that its great for that immersive porn experience :D

aside from that, its still in its infancy. when the tech gets more powerful, lighter, more comfortable with better controls it will get more market saturation then more AAA rated games will appear.
I'm sure it was a "friend".

How is VR Porn doing?

lol, that was one of the first things I checked out. It was pretty wild and disturbing. I really want to try one of those dating sim things where you can download a patch outside Steam for more lewdness, at least once lmao. Here's a non patched version of one.

It's really weird when there's an attractive NPC, or one with a good body, you can't help but be a bit of pervert initially. There's usually no physical interaction, but Lone Echo is in zero G, so your hands need to grip things to push you around the station/environments. Your companion is a woman is a nice figure, you can't help but grab her ass. She shrugs you off though, so you feel incredibly dirty.

Sentient AI, if we ever get there, is definitely going to kill us off based on VR NPC interactions alone.

This guy is first on on the list

From what I hear about project cambria or Meta Quest Pro? A few negatives I hear one is the field of view will remain the same even though they are switching to pancake optics "Largely based on a new rumor for using smaller but much higher resolution OLED's could be as much as 4k per eye". Other is it will not be using the same SOC but an upgraded version of the same SOC with elements designed in house by Facebook rumored to be costing facebook billions. It will be substantially lighter design and offering previously announced eye tracking. But could be a major game changer is a version of Augmented Reality in the past people like Magic Leap and others used tinted optics where a lot of people complained about how tinting effected the quality of the images. Well facebook instead using cameras to take a very high resolution image from outside an passes it through to the user. Reduces the issues currently happening to Augmented Reality headsets today by giving people a bright image vs dark tinted images from outside.

Already see where Augmented reality could really help with motion simulation by allowing you to track object like the racing wheel into the game and gated shifter as well as switches. You could see your steering wheel in the game VS just seeing the games wheel. Also because it maps the area Augmented reality game characters could be interacting with the surrounding like if you hold out your hand to shake the characters hand or sit on a chair. Deckhard will be using pancake optics to but will offer a wider field of view apparently and eye tracking. But no word yet on Deckhard using passthrough optics like Cambria. I will tell you seated movies in Vive is unreal like nothing I have ever seen in the Quest. It's freaky as well as looking over rails in game the effect is much more effective then in the Quest don't know if it is the quality of images, resolution or brightness it is just better by some margin over the quest.

I ordered the HP 2nd generation headset that offers similar optics to HTC Vive inside out tracking and uncompressed visuals from the basement simulator to get a comparison. Right now HP running a sale 200 off the HP headset with new generation headset coming out maybe a good time to buy a pretty decent headset for 400 bucks. I don't see it here but there is a link it looks like for an addition 100 bucks off. I got a renewed for 419.00 on ebay before I found out about the sale going on. darn.

Side note the longer cables for the Reverb G2 are sold out.

Update: This is the one I bought.

VR is great for flight sims. I can’t imagine using it for much else. Especially games where I’m running around. I don’t want to actually have to get up and do stuff. If I did, I would do stuff instead of playing games.

@Jack Reacheround It's really cool to be able to move around a virtual environment, but it can be exhausting. There's nothing quite like getting comfy on a couch and playing vids after a long day of work. Racing/flight sims are the shit, but what I wound up using my headset for more was watching movies in a virtual theater, or playing FPS games with my keyboard and mouse and only using the headset to immerse myself.

Big Screen was awesome and looks to be going strong still.

A lot of non native supported games can be played in VR, FPS ones especially work well, so long as you use a controller or M&K. Being able to look independently from aiming is incredible, and you still get to sit on your ass. The cable tether isn't as much of a big deal this way, and you never have to worry about charging it.

My big issue was having to take it on and off when issue arose (again, glasses/smudges) and the poor resolution of the Rift.

@PEB thanks for the the post Peb. That headset looks amazing, res wise and pass through ability. I'm glad to hear they made it with Valve and M$ support. I looked up a few reviews, and it still has weaker controllers, but I'd be more interested in the Sim/FPS/movie aspect. I'll wait for a bigger price drop, but I'll def be picking this up, or something similar at some point

This gives you an idea what the pancake optics will look like in use all open source project could get cheaper overtime. Thunderbolt tethered for native 6k support uncompressed.

Leaks are out all over the place.

The debate with these new headsets about visual quality, weight an FOV are coming to an end with these next generation headsets. I have used my new HTC Vive pro 2 VR headset for at least 4 hours the last 2 days amazing.

Just to give you an idea I am sitting in theater watching Ukraine news on the big screen unreal new headsets will up the game even more.

Here is a screen shot inside the headset with my cellphone. Samsung S22 Ultra. Just unreal the quality has to be seen to believe. The screen resembles a 30 foot theater screen I guess?

VR porn in conjunction with sex toys is way ahead of what I expected. They have youtube reviews. I honestly don't know much about it. I thought people were still using fleshlights where they have to still do the work. They got robo pussies now lol.

I got a quest 2 last christmas. I used it pretty regular for a few months. Thrill of the Fight is fun. I played a few roomscale games which were really cool. Porn is interesting and worth checking out. Porn games are also worth a look. Captain Hardcore is wild, I'd recommend that one.

It is very cool but I don't use it much anymore. I don't regret buying it though. I'd probably buy it again

My kids still use it, sometimes. My boy plays a shooter called pavlov. But I've noticed that if he has a PC or Xbox game he's into at the moment, vr doesnt get touched. My daughter plays beat saber and that's about it, but she's not really a gamer

It sounds like a mod for unreal engine to add VR support with much less work to any Unreal engine 4 title.

I dont think it's dead but it's certainly still very niche and will remain so until they can really back up the hardware with a strong library of games.

This is my newest VR setup with HTC Vive Pro 2 5k headset, i9-12gen cpu, RTX 3090ti, corsair 5000t case. I have also an Oculus Quest 2 but this is night an day vs the Quest 2. Working on a new motion simulator.

I started with the HTC Vive in 2016, then later upgraded to a Valve Index in 2020. It was pricey at a $1,000 but was Cadillac at the time. Its still my headset of choice until something comes out that is affordable and better. There are better headsets but some of them range up to around $7,000 for the really good stuff. People thinking VR is niche just aren't paying attention. The projected units for the end of 2022 is 15 million units and is growing every year. Plus, its applications are not just for gaming. What VR can do in medicine alone is well worth the technology.

I possibly want the new Meta Quest Pro headset if it turns out that it has through the lens augmented reality. I would love to display my 3D motion simulator model parts in the real world using these glasses.

Stuff happening fast.

This is an augmented reality group at MIT using Project North Star. Friends of mine started this project 4 or so years ago I posted on Sherdog.

Bryan doing some really wild stuff now with his work with Project North Star.

I don't know if you've ever seen this guy but he tests all the various headsets, and they are numerous, as well as haptic technology which is in this video. He puts out a news release every Tuesday. he covers the The Teslasuit and the OwO skin in this video. In the past haptics just consisted of vibrations and thumps. These suits use elctrostimulation that not only can deliver pain, but because of the way your brain processes information, they can make you believe you feel raindrops hitting you. Let that sink in some, you can feel the rain if you are in a raining environment.

The Teslasuit is not for consumers yet, it costs about as much as a car $10,000-$20,000). The OWO suit is less, about $500, but is not as technologically advanced. My point is people have no idea how far we are going to take this. We are already creating haptic suits that allow you to feel pain and other stimulus such as rain.

Yea its crazy. To put it in perspective my Valve Index has a field of view of 130 degrees and like I said earlier, it was Cadillac at the time. Hardware manufacturers continue to push forward with software lagging behind but its only a matter of time before VR is pretty much a permanent staple of technology. And not just for gaming, for business, engineering, medicine, etc. There are so many headsets most people have never even heard of. The hardware people are racing to get a piece of the pie if they can. Until I started watching Thrillseeker and a couple others I had no idea that beyond the Vive, Index, Oculus, there are a dozen other headsets, or more. And more come into existence every year. This doesn't even touch on the future of AR.
