Smaller landlords with fewer than four units, who often don’t have the financing of larger property owners have been hit the hardest, with 58% having tenants behind on rent. According to the National Association of Realtors. More than half of back rent is owed to smaller landlords.

Landlords that don’t get rent can’t pay their maintenance staff so they have to be laid off. Buildings can’t be fixed and kept in good repair.

The eviction moratorium is going to cause a snowball effect causing more problems than helping.

People with 4 units or fewer don’t have a staff of anyone working for them.

Would you prefer 58% of of renters live on the street?

Yes... There's over a million jobs at available this point and plenty of companies offering signing bonuses. There's absolutely no reason why useless deadbeats can't find a job and pay their rent right now. Oh yes there is... Democrats are allowing these fucks to live rent free and paying them to stay at home.

Democrats once again are enabling this garbage with their shitty policies. Like a drug addict's relative that continues to bail them out and hand them money when they show up looking for their next fix.

Fucking sad you clowns enjoy punishing hardworking Americans who invested their money into something real... and protect the lazy scum of society. Embarrassing.

You really think 58% of all renters are lazy scum?

How bout the 58% go get a damn job and pay the bills! Stop the freeloading, its teaching those people bad habits.

So yea, if they choose, they should in fact be homeless. Thats how it works.
Yeah, they should go work for peanuts just so someone who owns a building can extract passive income from it.

lol... There's plenty who are taking advantage the situation and not paying their rent. People with jobs. You severely overestimate people if you don't think they'll jump on a chance like to keep money for themselves. And when the mandates finally end? They'll just move, leaving the property holders holding the bag for 18+ months of mortgages. Fucking genius.

When DC set aside over $40 billion for rent assistance, that should have signaled the immediate end of the eviction mandates.

No, you pay the landlord directly from the government coffers. To subsidize their decision.......

Why is this such a difficult thing to do?

Money and forbearance are already available to them through various covid relief programs.

Do want to do another stimulus?

Is that really a smaller problem?
It wouldn't be that high. Most of the ones not paying rent are just gaming the system.

Having an eviction moratorium last this long is absurd. This nonsense needs to stop and they need get back to work and paying rent.

The rent assistance wasn't for the renters, it was for the landlords.

Even if people move, they're still legally obligated to pay back rent.

Even with the available jobs the cost of housing in many areas is skyrocketing. Landlords Jack up the rent every year even when wage do not go up for people or go up very little percentage wise compared to rent. I get people want to make money but when you have rental properties that you are paying a fixed 15 or 30 year loan on and you keep increasing the rent to pad your pockets more each year, stuff like this will happen. Renters feel exploited so they seized this opportunity to stick it to landlords.
