Because "labels" are shortcuts to assist in discourse. French, Sardinian, Japanese etc, are people who live in regions, who historically constitute tribes of some commonality, in the context of this discussion relating to diet; however, the terrain and environment within those countries vary wildly; as such, so do the diets of the people within them. Comparing the diets between those people/countries identifies even greater differences.whats wrong with our society, why do we feel a need to go to extremes and label our self vegans, carnivores… what is wrong with moderation? look what French, Sardinians, Japanese eat. how about cook your food from scratch, have alcoholic beverage here and there (not mixed with sugary syrups, drink like a man) treat your self with dessert once in while (no cheap Hershey shit, pay for gourmet cake or pie) and most importantly get up and walk every day.

The thing is, and why labels have some value, is that we have much more flexibility and choice when it comes to diet than we used to, and we are no longer restricted by our immediate surroundings. Our 'tribe', at least from a dietary perspective, is now an overlay, and we have the potential to modify/personalise as required. Giving those dietary approaches names simply means everything doesn't need to be spelled out before people can even start exchanging ideas.
I do agree though that dogma and overly restrictive/prescriptive dietary strategies are usually a bad thing.
You've touched on some key elements (reduction of processed food etc.), which constitute good advice, but for many people a more personalised and nuanced approach is necessary. That's partly due to the fact that many of us have been messed up by the modern environment, and a certain amount of reparation and management of environment and lifestyle mediated health issues are required to get even close to optimal health.
The push to get everyone on monsanto gmo grain human pet food continues.
He's a medical doctor for one. Two, this diet that I "feel good on" took me out of my death bed and has put my arthritis in remission for over 5 years.Who is this joker? He picked couple online comments and makes it sound like American is going communist. He is no different from social justice warriors, different side of same coin.
If you would like to educate us about benefits of meat, how about you spend time and find some quality peer reviewed scientific publications, not just any fool on you tube sharing his interpretation and sampling of new "scientific studies".
Isn't it ironic, all these diets are coming out of United States and we are still fattest and one of unhealthiest developed nations. French smoke and eat cheese, italians eat gelato and past, japanese rice and MSG and their elderly are much more active and fit than ours.
cut your bs. you got out of death bed and your arthritis is in remission? what are you 70 year old, posting on sherdog. there is plenty of peer reviewed studies bit they do not support your biases and beliefs. He's a medical doctor for one. The reason that I had arthritis was because of an allergic reaction to either grains or the herbicides that they're sprayed with in the US that triggered my immune system and my problem is very common.
You don't see a lot of peer reviewed research on this because much of it is funded, controlled, and hand picked by pharmaceutical companies who are in bed with companies like Monsanto, who produces the vast majority of gmo grains sprayed with glyphosate in the US and is owned by Bayer drug company.
I may not even have an allergy to soy. It might just be the herbicides it's sprayed with here in the US. The Japanese eat lots of soy and have the most centenarians and rank 2nd behind Hong Kong for longevity.
You didn't even distinguish between natural vs synthetic msg which causes the most health problems.
Until recently being displaced by China, the US published more scientific research that you're so impressed by than any other country in the world. We also spend more money on health care and take more pharmaceutical drugs than any other country in the world but rank 46th for longevity.
We're told, and gullible morons who lap up every bit of peer reviewed research that supports it, that our problem is too much red meat and saturated fats from animal products yet we still eat diets consisting of a high amount of grains, the majority of which are produced by Monsanto, vegetable oils produced under extremely high pressure with solvents from nuts and seeds that were never seen in food when our great grandparents were alive, and chemicals in the form of preservatives, artificial colors, sweeteners, pesticides, herbicides, and meat from sick animals treated with antibiotics to pump up their weight and keep them alive long enough for processing.
We also consume too much sugar and don't practice fasting enough you hemorrhoid face
dietary studies seem like one of the more difficult areas to get clear results because of all the variables. like if studies show people eating less red meat had a better outcome, was it McDonalds/WalMart beef they were reducing? or grass feed beef from a local farm? guess i'd have to dig into each study to really seeHe's a medical doctor for one. your expert claims doctors are hypnotized by pharmaceuticals, he wears tin foil hat when not making videos. he falsely claims that doctors do not recommend us spending time outside.
anyway bring on your insults you clearly get very defensive if someone doesn’t agree with your narrative
I never did any tests either. Just figured it out through trial and error. For me, gluten, soy, vegetable oils, and nightshade vegetables seem to give me the most problems.dietary studies seem like one of the more difficult areas to get clear results because of all the variables. like if studies show people eating less red meat had a better outcome, was it McDonalds/WalMart beef they were reducing? or grass feed beef from a local farm? guess i'd have to dig into each study to really see
I do think there is value in each person testing what foods do to them. my wife has a sensitive gut, and is pretty confidant gluten is off limits. it's the one thing she's discovered that if she goes a week or two without eating, then even eats just two slices of pizza, the result is several days of constipation followed by a bout of diarrhea. and apparently to do a proper test for Celiac's, you have to eat gluten for a couple months and then do some test, which would be a bit miserable for her
My health is great now. I can run 10 miles anytime I want. I don't like tooting my horn, but in response to your assertion that I must be bottom of the pile genetically, I was a state champion in 3 different cycling disciplines and also finished 2nd at nationals. I've also fathered 2 children, one of whom is currently top of his class. What are your credentials to put down Shawn Baker or me? What have you accomplished academically or otherwise?if half of what you said about your health is true, I am sorry but you have some bad genes and will probably have health issues no matter what. I know people who lived in Chernobyl during and after nuclear reactor went off and they don’t have as many issues as you do.
