Lomachenko vs Richard Commey Dec.11 ESPN

I find Commey to be a boring fighter, but he's got a shot in this one. Loma is getting hit more and Commey still has power It's not a bad matchup, but I'd like to see a Lopez rematch. That may be too dangerous of a fight for Loma though; a loss there and his career would hang in the balance. Three losses that early on would really damage a legacy that is shaky already in my opinion.

Dunno, legacy usually is $ accumulated before retirement.
For fans and history specialists in narrow field these are wins vs notable boxers or at least close fights etc alike.

Ali easily might be with 1-2 record in his fights vs boxers Frazier and Norton if he had not been A side lad under Don King.:p

BTW maybe some 5 years younger Linares version might had stopped Loma in distance if had fought vs current Loma version?
Loma is not unbeatable and there I don't mean judges cards.

How so? I find him to be the opposite. He lacks skill yes but most of his fights have been bangers. To me he's similar to Maidana. Powerful and aggressive. Maybe he can be to Loma what Maidana was to Floyd. Loma most likely wins but I don't think its as bad of a fight as some on here are making out. I think people are just upset he's not rematching Lopez. Either way I respect Loma for taking this. He could of picked a less dangerous opponent in terms of power.

I’d be surprised if Loma fights more than another 5 times - he was already talking about retiring and fishing a couple of years ago.

If Lopez beats him again, his career is done IMO.

That's certainly not a fight that Loma is avoiding. That's why he's taken the Commey fight. It's obvious. He is showing what he can do with a previous Lopez victim, just as he did with Nakatani. It's all aimed at getting the Lopez rematch. The issue is that Lopez has his fight against Kambosos after it being postponed it twice, once because the dumb fuck caught covid. But Arum has stated that he wanted the Lopez/Loma rematch for December 11th, but that's now been replaced with the Commey bout. So it looks like the Kambosos fight is happening in October which is too close to the proposed Loma rematch. So it looks like Loma and Lopez will be rescheduled to 2022. This obviously suits the younger man but that doesn't deter Loma.

Loma really should go back to 130. I think 135 is too big for him and I'm not sure I see him beating any of hte up and coming talent. Still a lot of good fights to be made at 130.

I think if Loma fights Teo again win or lose he retires shortly afterwards.

Yeah I was thinking that. It seems like a good time to go out for him.

He's getting on in age and he's always found it difficult to land the bigger names, and that's not gonna end any time soon. I don't know how Loma ends his career if he doesn't get the Teo rematch though.

Yeah he's been talking retirement a lot and it's clear he doesn't want to go much beyond his prime. I'm pretty hopeful that the Lopez rematch will happen. Both fighters are with Arum now. And Bob seems to be talking about the rematch as though it's a definite. Lopez's management seems to be on board with the idea as well. It's a shame it didn't happen sooner but Covid gonna Covid. I still think Lopez is a silly twat for getting it, should've got vaccinated.

I honestly don't care who wins at this point but i really do hope it happens. I'm optimistic about its chances of happening, though i've learned to not hold my breath.

nah probably not.

Loma vs Lopez II might be had sold considerably better than Lopez vs Kambosos or Loma vs this guy both fights together.
Loma does have enough decent background to sell ppvs with him: title fights since 2014 th in row in 3 weight classes and sorry, he today still is more popular than Lopez.
Lopez is young up coming pupp, old Bob and dad will push him up. Maybe vs Taylor or even Crawford. Btw Lopez is enough large to have essential need to have pre fight camp even in order to make 147 lbs limit.
Looks that his natural weigh is approx 150-154 lbs. Like this, not less.
Imagine how might look Lopez vs Spence Jr or Crawford or at least vs Vergil Ortiz Jr?

I think he might be able to make 130 lbs weight in limit.
Not likely he is heavier than 140 lbs at fight night when he competes @ 135 lbs division.
Next argument is that he had 0 problems to make weight in for 126 lbs limit while being already mature 26 -27 y.o adult.

@135 lbs division : a lot of boxers are capable to beat up coming talent.
For some boxers this might require maybe 1 liver punch, for some other boxers : fast hook to punch head etc alike stuff.

I'm fine with this since Lopez is still fighting Kambosos and that got delayed, no? Anyway, the delay in time between Loma vs Lopez 2 only favours the younger man.

Absolutely. From what I've heard from Lopez he isn't inclinded to give Loma a rematch. If it's up to him it won't happen. Uncle Bob will have to use all his geriatric powers of persuasion for this one.

Lopez could become the talent that never was (in the sense that outside the ring decisions botch his inside the ring opportunities to show his greatness).

I was really impressed with Lopez against Lomachenko. I thought Loma came on too late and that cost him. I'd have to rewatch to score it, as I was catching a low quality version and was more about enjoying than scoring with a pen and paper. A rematch would be awesome.
