I've known a couple retired folk in this area of Florida that have a winter place here in the sunshine state, and another summer home in Maine. I'm guessing for tax reasons they are residences of Florida.

Low crime rates and awesome scenery...good for them to retiree in a beautiful place like Maine.

No income or estate tax and homestead exemption. With influx, property tax and insurance is getting crazy. My county gets 2,500 new residents a month.
