His GF found a letter where he said he would kill Marc Van Ranst Marc , one of Belgium's top virologists.
He served on international missions Joegoslavië, Bosnië, Kosovo, Libanon, Irak and Afghanistan.

He was an instructor of shooting since he was an sniper/marksman specialist. This is how he had acces to a military arsenal, he took following things with him:

There is talk of 4 rocket launcher he took with him, but they found them back in car near a forrest.
The car was suppossed to be Booby trapped with explosives

The pistol and gun use the same ammo, he is supposed to carry 2000 bullets with him...

Although I have a great love my Country and what it represents in terms of freedom and ideals, I imagine that I will be seeing more of the same as we grant asylum to those who don't share those same ideals.

Belgium's response to COVID seemed to be a complete mess. If anything, I thought the Belgians should be outraged that a large number of vaccines have gone to non-residents of the country, instead of the citizens.

Covid rules in Belgium and Europe in general are pretty strict, and soldier follow the rules. I think the guy snapped, some say he is traumatized because he was on a lot of international missions Iraq etc... His mom suicided when he was serving in one of those missions.

So yeah he is pretty much Rambo IRL

I did not know Rambo tried murdering a virologist advising the government. I also didn't know that Rambo left a booby trap in his car for the cops to find. Didn't know Rambo was part of a far right organization with ties to Belgian collaboration during WW2 either.

Yes, Afghanistan nowadays and it's mostly the special forces and the air forces. Regular Belgian troops see less combat and have a more supportive role. The SF obviously has a more covert role and their missions don't reach the news.

Most Belgian military missions do not get attention in the newspapers.

Paratroopers are used when Belgian citizens need to be escorted out of a foreign country, often African countries when there's a regime change.

The Belgian army consists out of professional soldiers who do this for a living (we don't have conscripts anymore). Most do menial tasks, nothing all that important.
Jurgen however was one of the elite forces.
Everytime there is some international crisis/war like IRAQ, and USA , UN or Europe or whatever, the European countries are asked to send their special forces... .
So those guys see some action ofc.
