Muay Thai shorts sizes? I am sooo confused.

So when these shorts list waist size as 36 waist (which seems to be the largest) does this mean 36 when stretched to the max or 36 without the stretch? I find it hard to believe that everyone who does Muay Thai somehow has a waist smaller than 36 inches. Or am I missing something?

You have to keep in mind that Thais are much smaller than Westerners in general so the largest sizings on some of the Thai based brands are still pretty small. SiamTops and Raja along with a couple of other brands have much larger waist sizes but those might be enormous in all other measurements too. I don't own either brands so someone else would have to chime in if those would work. Some people cut one of the elastics in the waistband to loosen the waist but I would be careful if you go down that route. There are several guides to get a better idea about short brands etc. Still pretty confusing.

36 is indeed the very largest waist you will find on a Thai fighter. That would probably be labelled at least XL. 32L, 30M, 28S or thereabouts.

If you have ever bought fake Chinese stuff on AliExpress. It's similar..Chinese sizes are much smaller than western sizes.
USA sizes are also bigger than UK or european sizes.
