It looks like the Texans are going to give Tunsil a blank check, because they pretty much have to at this point. Seems like bad business to trade a first or first plus for a guy without having an extension worked out. Ramsey/Tunsil get so much added leverage because the teams pretty much have to bring them back after giving up the entire kitchen for them. The other big trades for guys at the end of their deals - Buckner/Ford/Clark all went with an extension announced at the same time, seems to be the way to go about it.

(Some guys probably refuse to sign without hitting the market, would probably be less willing to trade for those guys // would pay less)

Revis never had the same support Sherman did

just a fact of life, Sherman also only plays one side of the field.

Quite the twitter explosion from Rex’s off the wall comments yesterday. These are mind boggling though. Dude goes from the best player on the field to no where to be found.

This blows my mind. I just don't get it. He consistently gets some of the best separation in the league. Logically, I have to think that, in those games where he disappears, he's open quite a bit.

Revis was a way better man cover guy, the best of the era, but he had a weird career.

Elite with a pretty good defense in NY, total bust for the bucs, good year on elite team/scheme Pats, washed after that?

His down years drive down that stat

Tampa mostly played a zone cover 2, rarely a true man coverage. They mixed it up to give him more man coverage but it didn't work out for anyone but the opposition. Say what you want about Rex Ryan, but he knew how to use Revis effectively.

Hes a strange one for sure. He sometimes gets bullied by the mauler type DBs, then you get the “concentration drops” and it can make for some hideous performances. But hell usually pair that with some crazy ass 200/2 game.

Cant think of another who plays such opposite ends of the spectrum.

Yeah Sherman’s great, but I always dock him a little bit for only covering one side of the field. Revis on the Jets was definitely the best CB in the last decade or so when it came to just strictly covering WRs

Revis was great at man cover and probably the more valuable CB overall, but it is much closer than some think.

There was a year, maybe two where Sherman had NO help in San Fran and was flat out great. When Revis had similar responsibilities in Tampa, it DID NOT work. So a trade for the best CB in the league that looked like a homerun for Tampa, did not work out. That is how a guy (Revis) who held out multiple times for the Jets for more $$$$, was a bargain deal for the Pats.

Revis had help in many of his years with the Jets, Kerry Rhodes as FS in the early years, Anthony Cromartie as CB on the other side later on. Jets had a good pass rush and Rex Ryan was at the top of his game scheming against opponents. With Mark Sanchez as his QB, they beat Peyton's Colts AND Brady/BB's Pats in the playoffs.

The difference between Sherman and Revis is closer than many think, the biggest difference is actually Sherman's never ending running mouth. Sherman can be petty, annoying and arrogant which rubs some people the wrong way, but he is also highly intelligent, forthright and one of the best CBs in the history of the NFL.

Revis was already shot by the time he got to Tampa, literal shell of his former self, and he only played one year in TB and was coming off a huge injury that sidelined him for 14 games the year before.

The only Revis worth talking about, honestly was the Revis with the Jets, it was only a 5/6 year stint, but it was an all time great stint.

Sherman, although a loudmouth pussy/bitch/fuck him, is a great player, but he's a pro bowl caliber player, Revis was an all time great caliber player in his prime with NY.
