Xbox Official Xbox Series X thread

Got the S all hooked up. The white looks nice along with the PS5 in my set up. Installed Forizon Horizon 4 first and it looks and plays great. Only negative so far is the controller looks and feels cheap. I dont know why they went with the cheap plasticity look with the grainy feeling grip. Compared to thd dual sense it feels like an artifact.

I went with the Elite 2 controller. Got enough weight and the rubber grips are very nice. I did have a problem with the right trigger sticking but I found this..

Yes, this did fix it. I'm not kidding.

Theres gonna be a second ID Xbox /Twitch Indie showcase on August 10th

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/08/05/second-idxbox-and-twitch-indie-showcase-august-10/

That’s right, ID@Xbox and Twitch are partnering for our second /twitchgaming Showcase: ID@Xbox on Tuesday, August 10 at 9:00 AM PT where fans will get to see some of the great work coming to Xbox from independent developers."
During this showcase, we’ll once again feature tons of independent titles, including brand new game announcements from developers and publishers such as Rebellion, Chump Squad, and others. Fans will also get a chance to see the latest and hear from teams working on The Artful Escape, Ollie Ollie World, Library of Ruina, and RPG Time to name a few – and of course, an ID@Xbox show wouldn’t be complete without some Xbox Game Pass news and announcements!

Been putting in some solid hours on Forza Motorsport and as a lifelong Gran Turismo fan I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Without being able to play both side by side it's hard to say which plays or looks better but it's close enough to not really matter. Forza is like the Costco brand of GT, I can't tell if it's better or worse but there's definitely more of it. I will say for Forza the sense of speed feels noticeably faster which is important in a game like this.

The biggest difference is the campaign mode where GT just sort of makes you fend for yourself by making you earn money and buy cars and work your way up, FM definitely leads you through it more. Not sure which I prefer but I like that they are different.

The first Hellblade game has had a free patch today with Ray tracing, 3 resolution modes, direct x raytracing for both Series X and S. The update is coming to PC at some point but that's it.

That's a nice giveaway to draw attention to the game sale. I didn't even realize it started three days ago because I never click on the "Store" tab in the app. It lasts until August 5th.

@Law Talkin’ Guy, this came up in another thread:
https://forums.sherdog.com/posts/165451603/

You were unaware there were sales like these including the full-DLC versions of games on Xbox. Not only do these sales exist on Xbox, but this "Ultimate Game Sale" has become a regular seasonal thing with them, and IMO, it has usurped the "Steam Sale" as the greatest sale tradition in all of videogaming. It's the closest thing to what those Steam sales once used to be. Notice in the link above you can organize by biggest percentage discount.

Below are some examples. I got tired because it just kept going and going. In essence, the 100% DLC edition (or some enhanced version) of practically every single game on Game Pass is on sale at or near the best sale price we've ever seen from a major service.

The best sales in gaming to buttress the best service in gaming.

So I didn’t end up buying the Skyrim Special edition + Fallout 4 GOTY bundle during the sale and I’m glad I didn’t since Skyrim SE and base FO4 are both on game pass and all I wanted was the DLC for FO4. I just happened to be browsing the Microsoft store on Xbox tonight and just my luck what did I come across: the Fallout 4 season pass was on sale 85% off for $7 Canadian!

Verge readers can snag three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $30
Typically, a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate runs $45. And while Microsoft’s ongoing promotion will knock the price down to $1 for new subscribers, it’s not available for returning players. Thankfully, Verge readers can purchase a three-month subscription at Eneba for $30, while supplies last. The sale price will fluctuate around $30.85 (with service fees), but if you use promo code XGPU3VERGE, the price should come in just shy of $30 at checkout.
It's actually showing me a price of €23.64 for this global key after applying their discount code, which is $27.86 USD, so it comes out to just north of $9/mo.

Digital Foundry has done a teardown of the series S plus some comparisons too
