Xbox Official Xbox Series X thread

Weird. I would have thought the UI was already 4k.

No i remember it not being 4K but that's such a minor thing. Who really cares what the UI is displayed in. I certainly wouldn't have... As long as its fast, responsive, snappy and easy to use is all i would really care for...

I honestly wouldn't care that much about the 4k. Looking into I found out something else though that I would care about and that's the fact that the Dashboard isn't in HDR. This is annoying as hell because then your TV does that blinking on and off switching from HDR games to SDR UI. You can see a lot of people on reddit complaining about it and that's what they really have an issue with. Depending on your setup to it can take a long time for the signal to come back. My TV is pretty quick and does it in a sec or two but I've seen other users say it takes upwards of 10 seconds.

Well, this is very.. meh, thus far.

Looked at a round up of everything announced and the only thing that really interested me was Stray Blade. I’ll for sure jump on Dying Light 2, but that’s been revealed for some time.

Question for those of you who got the Series X...

I do plan on getting one at some point, but I'm a pretty casual gamer. When it comes to shooters or games like GTA I don't play online and really don't have any interest to. For those kind of games I'm a medium difficulty campaign kind of player; and other than that I like to play sports and triva style games locally on the couch with friends.

I have an Xbox One X and I really don't see that big of a difference in 30fps and 60fps. I can tell, but I forget about it really quick once I get immersed. Kind of like watching a movie in HD and UHD. So I was just wondering if upgrading would be that big of a deal for me.

I have a 60'' UHD 4K HDR10 LG TV that I game on, but it's only 60Hz. So my TV is decent, but I still won't be able to achieve 120fps. My plan was to upgrade for Far Cry 6, but I think the One X will handle it just fine.

Playing The Division 2 after the 4K upgrade they released was like Night and Day. The lighting, shadows, the sheer detail was jaw-dropping for me. Well worth it IMHO.

On a go forward basis it will be other kinds of quality of life improvements that will make the biggest difference, like loading times. Check out Digital Foundry’s review of the Ascent. Skip to around 12:25 of this video where they compare the loading times of the Series X vs the Xbox One X.

In particular watch from around 14:25 when they show just how long the game takes to load on One X.

Yep. These load times are apparent even in the Cloud. For example, I have played the MCC on a friend's Xbox One. When I showed him how you could play the game (or Halo 5) on his smartphone using the Cloud, one of the first things you'll notice is that load times for levels are around 5 seconds when on the Xbox One you'd be sitting there waiting for 30+ seconds. That's because every "server" for the Game Pass Cloud is now an Xbox Series X.

This was the first thing I noticed when I went to play the Goliath level on Halo 4. I thought to myself, "Holy fuck, what is taking so long?" It's been a long time since I loaded a game from an HDD. Jesus, those consoles are so terrible.

It was announced today that the Cloud will officially hit the Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One sometime during these coming holidays (I believe Xbox Insiders can already access it without using the browser, but I don't know, I haven't looked into it, and I don't have a console myself).

Just got an x through all access via walmart. Been looking for one for a minute and was hoping not to go allaccess but not unhappy about it. I'll save a few bucks on gamepass.

Question about transfering files from a seagate hhd external (from xbox one) to the internal ssd on a series x. Can i just do it or will i need to redownload games optimized for series x?

If you cannot tell a big enough difference between 30/60, then the jump to 120 probably won’t blow your mind. And to be completely honest, the games I’ve played on my series x that you can enable FPS boost, have been a bust. They drop the resolution in many, like far cry 5, so it’s not worth it. To me. After playing in higher resolutions all the time, I can’t go back to 1080 or slightly lower, especially on my tv and monitors.

I've been a console gamer since the NES days so living at 30fps has never bothered me because I didn't know what 60fps played like. Picked up a Series X and one of the first games I played was FO76. The first person shooter aspect has always been sluggish in those games, and it was more about the RPG aspects. Within a few weeks they dropped a 60fps patch and it was night and day for me being able to hit targets and overall enjoyment of the game.

My kids got my hand me down Xbox and when I sit with them while they play at the lower fps I just think "how did I ever play like this!?".

Faster load times are a great feature, and waiting a few minutes to wait for a game to load is a bit ridiculous to say the least; but when I'm gaming I usually have my laptop at the ready as I fart around on the internet and kind of switch between my computer and console when I have the time to nerd out for a bit.

I remember Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, and Far Cry 5 having some brutal load times, but I would usually just hop on Sherdog or something during the load screen, so it was never really an issue for me.

I don't know how many of you answer those quizzes on Microsoft Bing or use Microsoft rewards program but they're giving this away.

Don't waste your points on the lottery. You're squandering them as surely as if you walked into a Casino headed toward the slot machines with a fistful of cash.
