Mayor of the town, after multiple students shared the assignments with their parents after it made them uncomfortable, is calling for their entire school board to resign and a judge called the assignments "essentially child pornography"

“It has come to my attention that your educators are distributing essentially what is child pornography in the classroom,” Hudson Mayor Craig Shubert told the Hudson Board of Education during a meeting Monday.

“I’ve spoken to a judge this evening. She’s already confirmed that. So I’m going to give you a simple choice: You either choose to resign from this board of education or you will be charged,” Shubert said before leaving the podium, receiving applause from the audience.

Shubert’s statement followed the revelation that high school students enrolled in the advanced course “Writing in the Liberal Arts II,” were issued a book called 642 Things to Write About, which featured some overtly sexual writing prompts designed for adolescents.

Among the ideas in the book were suggestions to “write a sex scene you wouldn’t show your mom” and to “rewrite the sex scene from above into one that you’d let your mom read.” Another prompt encouraged underage drinking, asking students to consume a beer and describe its taste, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Others asked the students to write out X-rated Disney scenes, a sermon for a preacher caught in a sex scandal, choosing how you would die, and what would be on your DVR if you were a serial killer.

I don't think the entire school board should resign as I don't believe the school board dictates the curriculum for the year....if they do, definitely. If it's something this particular teacher decided, fire him/her.

school board chose this book for required for this class. Says they just didn’t research it enough and it was a mistake. Wasn’t the teacher that chose this

Yeah this sounds like some rogue creepy teacher doing it. I highly doubt anyone one
knew about it. Mayor is being a little dramatic here.

Edit: I guess not…. Maybe the mayor is not being dramatic. Hard to believe no one caught this before the students

So she wants to fire the entire school board because a book for older kids in an advanced writing class that they pulled some writing prompts from also mentions sex and alcohol in some of the other 600 odd prompts?

This is " there's a war on christmas" level thin-skinned behavior.

How many books in high school discuss violence? Murders? But gasp...sex and a beer?!

It seems there's been an increasing effort to sexualize children, and it didnt begin with this event. People need to realize this, on a large scale, and soon.

The Obama library tranny reading, the netflix cuties show, Biden, and so on. It's been creeping in, and many have been warning about it - although it often falls onto deaf ears.

There are pedos in high places. Thankfully, there are also people like this mayor who will do their best to have none of it.

Look, I'm all for educating adolescents about sex and birth control. All studies (that I've seen) show that educating teens on sex and birth control have positive life impacts.

This isn't it.

Children go through puberty at 11-13 (or earlier if abused). You absolutely should educate them about sex. This idea that we're going to act like people don't have an urge to have sex is ridiculous

Also, sexualization of kids has been on going. Cheer competitions, beauty pageants, etc

Sounds like a college text book that nobody actually reviewed in full.

stop screeching. No one tried to “sexualize kids” here. They were never given any assignments related to this stuff. It just happened to be that in a book of almost seven hundred prompts two mentioned sex and one mentioned a beer and the kids were never asked to do any of those prompts.

Could you guys clutch your pearls any harder over nothing? Wet paper bags have thicker skin than a lot of you.

Hint; don’t look up “catcher in the rye” or the content may make someone as sensitive as you faint.

How does he put on his pants in the morning over those huge balls he has?

If the writing assignments were signed off on by the board I’ve got no problem with them all resigning. I’ve got no tolerance for the sexualization of children.

if the board and teacher knew about this and still did it then they should all be fired but if it slipped through because nobody read the damn book full through beforehand then that is a very different story.

all the libs in this thread that think this is ok for kids are sickos and weirdos and have something wrong with them.

That's likely. It's a book of writing prompts with an innocuous title - 642 Things to Write About.

Seems like a lot of it is "If each decade of your life was represented by a pop song, what would they be?" Or "You have been evicted from your home, but rather than live on the street you go to IKEA. At night you hide in the bathroom until the janitor leaves. Write about your life."

"Your educators are distributing essentially what is child pornography." "You either choose to resign from this board of education or you will be charged." Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Imbeciles.
