Social Pay it forward, Random acts of kindness

I stopped at a rest stop to take a whiz and grab a water. There was this old dude with a veteran hat. He was in front of me and was chatting. He got a coffee and a roll. He was short 75 cents. Tells the guy he is embarrassed but is short this month. I paid the 75cents. He thanks me profusely and gives me a pin off his hat of an American flag. I had just won a super bowl pool and asked him if I could pay for his breakfast tomorrow. He said that would be of great help....so I gave him $100 bill and told him thanks for his service. He practically cried.
I walk out feeling good about myself As I’m approaching the doors this jittery women with new Jordan’s on says “Hey man, I ran outta gas, can you spare 5 dollars to help a sista out”.....I tell her sure I’m going to the pumps follow me over there and I’ll pump your gas....She says “No just give me the 5 dollars, my car isn’t here” I tell her sorry don’t have cash....she then calls me a mutherfucking cheap ass white boy”. I said bitch get to rehab you piece of shit. Good deed undone, mood shit. This new gas scam thing is everywhere now.

I work for the local food pantry that helps to feed individuals & families that are food insecure. Up until a month ago, I didn't even know that one existed here in Sedona as it's a ritzy resort town but as it turns out people are struggling all over. But it's sort of surreal in that all our donations come from Whole Foods, Starbucks, Panera, & a bunch of other high-end food shops, bakeries & restaurants. So, the food that we distribute is all organic, gourmet stuff. And the parking lot to our distribution site is mostly filled with rand new luxury cars & SUVs. Definitely not the type of vehicles that one would expect the clientele of a food pantry to drive. But as the intake specialist, it's my job to screen them & make sure that they qualify for aid. And they do so I don't judge. But it's been an eye-opener for me to see who's actually in financial dire straights. Times are tough all over.

It was while working for the food pantry two weeks ago that I was able to show kindness to a young couple who'd just moved into an apartment but it didn't have a stove & they couldn't afford to buy one for a week or two. So, I decided to help them out by setting them up with some brand new kitchen stuff that my father-in-law left us when he passed last spring. He was a bit of a hoarder when it came to kitchen gadgets & appliances. So, I went into our storage shed & gave the couple a microwave, one of those Masterchef air fryers & a couple of other things to get them by until they could get a stove. Which they very much appreciated & it did me good to be able to help them out.

I helped my elderly neighbour a couple of years ago. She locked herself out in her backyard but left the remote for the garage on top of the bin that was just outside the door. She was yelling out for help but so I answered and asked what's wrong, she told me what happened and where to find the remote. I used it to open the garage door and open the door to the backyard for her. She thanked me and that was that.

When was the cat involved, I've heard this story before but it involved a cat rescuing an old woman......... @lsa

Just to confirm, what brand was the microwave.

When I was in Havana, there was a Dutch dude in the hostel on his final day of his trip and he didn't have a penny left. Not only that, his bank card wasn't being accepted by any of the Cuban ATMs - I knew this wasn't bullshit, mine was rejected by 50% of them or more.

Dude was planning to WALK to the fucking airport the following afternoon, in 40 degree heat, because he had no money to get there any other way. I basically withdrew £60 ($80), gave it to him and said "go and eat, you're coming out with the boys tonight and getting hammered and getting yourself a taxi to the airport tomorrow - if you can pay me back sometime, great".

We exchanged FB details but as fate would have it, he wasn't accepting friend requests - I found this out when I got home to the UK. I thought fucker, he's taken the money and run but oh well - one day it might be me in that situation and I'd hope someone stepped up for me.

Fast forward a few weeks and my mother gets a text message off him! Basically, I'd borrowed his phone to text home to say I was fine (internet didn't work there) and it was his only way of contacting me, remembering that text! She put me in touch with him and bang, he transferred me the $80 on the spot. Good dude.

I worked at a GameStop in college and every once in a while some kid would be short on cash. It always made me think about when I was little and what a big deal it was to get a new game so I’d usually pay the difference myself.

Do you call him step Dad or just Dad now?

back in like 2016 i was travelling on a train in holland and left my phone (at the time it was a new galaxy note 4) on the seat. i was pissed but eventually went on with my day. when i got home a couple weeks later in the states i had a facebook message from someone named matthieu. he found my phone on the train, somehow unlocked it and found my info on facebook to message me that he was going to send it to me. he sent it back. he just said that his grandpa always told him to do the right thing and that he's always tried to listen to that. that's all i know about him.

as for breaking into my phone he said his friend helped him because he didn't know how, and i've never had issues with any of my personal information. it was a genuine act of kindness. and we're still friends on facebook.

When lived in DC, some dork asked for helped, and me and my boy told this dude the wrong address. He probably got robbed and got his ass kicked.
Life of the party.

My dumb ass went to catch the bus with no umbrella or hood for my coat and got caught in a cloud burst. There was no covering or even trees nearby to keep the rain out of my face and it was pouring hard. This old white dude was driving by and got out of his car to give me an umbrella

Still got the umbrella he gave me
White people problems. . . ?
