Oh, yeah, of course i remember this. I actually worked with a guy (a dishwasher) once who did a stint at Pelican Bay around this time (but not during it-- one of the first things I asked him).

Ah, the times where you had to catch these shows on television back in the day. I remember it, pure chaos.
"February 23, 2000, riot inside Pelican Bay State Prison. Thirty three inmates were stabbed by other inmates, fifteen inmates were shot by Correctional Officers, and eighty nine weapons were recovered. This was one of California's largest and bloodiest prison riots."
