Agreed 100%. I did the political compass test and learned a lot about myself. I got right in the middle actually. But it's beyond the scope of this sherbro thread, since most of us are either democrats, republicans or something in between. It's good to hear arguments from all sides.

It really doesn't. The Party has completely purged itself of technocrats and pragmatists. Its policies in literally every policy area run in contradiction to expert consensus.

The GOP's 2016 platform and 2017 tax cuts were unanimously panned by nearly every polled major economist. And the austere pandemic response (setting aside the indefensibly irresponsible and deadly anti-science disinformation) didn't fare much better. Both the GOP and Libertarian Party currently rely/justify themselves exclusively by Austrian and Randian fringe kooks.

To be sure, the Democratic Party is the only Party that currently takes serious input from economic experts and crafts policies according to them. They're the technocrat party. But the Green Party (that with which I most identify - it's not a single issue party btw) at least has an economic platform that modern economists would qualify as basically helpful in helping ordinary citizens, creating sufficient revenue, and addressing demand issues.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Can you post the green party platform here so I can read it? Provide a link I mean. I didn't even know the Green party was a viable thing. Never thought of them. Never hear of them. I'll be honest, I probably have a biased misconception about the Green party. I have dual citizenship with Canada, so I know the Green party up there is one platform obsessed and economically unviable. They have no parliamentary seats. I automatically assumed it was the same for the US.

Nothing you have posted supports the Republican party as a beacon for Free Speech as OP hinted. It was one of the reasons they gave for identifying as a Republican. An easy example to disprove that the Republicans arent the party that supports ALL free speech is the anti protest laws that they are pushing throughout America.

You care about people. Are you in support of M4A? How about wiping out student and medical debt? How about tuition free college? How about a housing program for the homeless? Higher wages for workers? Etc etc. Are you for those things? The Right definitely aren't. Trump definitely wasn't. So then you really don't give a fuck about people. Lmao the Right have no way. I actually don't align myself with any political party. I consider myself a populist leftist, but as a free thinker I look at each and every issue critically. Political parties are thought police.

the goal is to not tolerate our loved ones throwing their lives away. It’s the great trick of the “legalize drugs” movement. This is a hard cultural fight, that needs punishment at all levels. And I support weed and coke and shrooms being legal.

Imo it's stupid to identify with political parties. Sometimes I have views that would be identified as Democrat, sometimes Republican, sometimes Libertarian and sometimes none of them.

Educate yourself and look upon each and every issue from your own perspective instead of parroting shit other people came up with out of some misunderstood notion of loyalty towards a rich party elite.
 
Everyone is free to believe whatever they want to believe in a democracy.
 
I am slightly right of centre but I don’t associate with any party.

I lost faith in politicians a long time ago. Not a single one of them cares about the people that put them in power.
