RIP Andy Weatherall

Andy Weatherall died today from a pulmonary embolism. Dude was 56

Guy was a massive influence on the UK dance scene in late 80's onwards, acid house, techno, the guy was a major player.

Almost unmatched in remixes of dance records back in the 90's, and also a major player behind Primal Scream's classic album.

Was lucky enough to meet him a number of occasions, chilled with him, DJ'd on a couple of the same events.

Aww shit. He was a great producer. I saw him in Dublin back when he was doing 2 Lone Swordsmen, and been a fan ever since. I've got the Back 2 Basics cd that comes in a tin can and a bunch of his other stuff. The Masterpiece mix he put out a few years back was excellent. This news really sucks.
