This is just a random suggestion... interested in your feedback.
Would it be possible to enable a pure Dark Mode - so to speak - for SD?
Most modern devices (iPhones, Android phones, many tablets, some monitors and laptops) use OLED/AMOLED screens.
Devices with OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screens will last longer with dark mode (pure black) since OLED screens generate light for each individual pixel, meaning that black pixels won't use any power. It's a bit like turning off lights around your house; the house itself will still use some power, but the lights that you've turned off won't use any.
In a dark mode test, PhoneBuff found that dark mode on an iPhone XS Max used 5% to 30% less battery life than light mode, depending on the screen's brightness. This test was conducted in 2019, newer panels on modern devices would probably see even greater battery savings.
A pure black background on this site would help all SD users save battery life on their devices while viewing and participating in the forums.
As opposed to SD Dark...
"Pure Black" Dark Mode would look something like this...
What do you guys think? Would it be possible or is this just wishful thinking?
Regardless, thanks for all the hard work you all pour into making this site a great experience for its users.
Cheers...
