WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized on Thursday after she fell in her office at the court the night before, fracturing three ribs, a court spokeswoman said.

The 85-year-old justice initially went home after the fall, but experienced discomfort overnight. She went to George Washington University Hospital on Thursday morning.

Tests showed she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment, said the spokeswoman, Kathy Arberg.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fractured three ribs after falling in her Supreme Court office Wednesday night, the Supreme Court said in a statement.

According to the statement, Ginsburg, 85, experienced discomfort after going home following the fall and was admitted to George Washington University Thursday morning for observation and treatment.

Whatever voodoo magic keeping her going activated again here. It does raise questions on the mental fitness of a person to be one of the most important decision makers in the country if the physical body is as the simply fall and break bones stage.

I would be entirely opposed to the current administration doing anything that would force a justice out under their watch, but something that future appointments are until even age 80 rather than until they drop dead wouldn't be the worst idea

I am not into her politics, however, kind of admire Justice Ginsburg. From what I have read she is a woman of principle, dignity, and both gracious as well as respectful on the bench and to her staff.

That said, one does not doubt, there are a lot of people who have voodoo dolls out for her. It reminds me of the witches who took time for tending their many, many cats to put a "hex" on Justice Kanavaughn (spelling)

Nah, Ginsburg's health and ability are markedly superior to a great many of her predecessors. I remember a famous anecdote about Justice Burger (or it might have been Harlan) having to have his law clerks watch pornography in First Amendment cases and describe to him what was going on because his eyesight was so bad that he couldn't see it himself.

Also, Ginsburg could have eight strokes and a lobotomy and still be more coherent and intelligent than Alito or Thomas.
