Hello from a small corner of the world!
September 11 is election day in Sweden and, as always, it is important to vote in both municipal and parliamentary elections. Before that I had intended to present the various parties that have been in the Riksdag since 2010 and as it still looks.

The Left Party (Vänsterpartiet)
The left party was previously a communist party that cooperated with the Soviet Union and the GDR. Today, the party has partially come to terms with its history but is still a socialist party and their youth union says they are communists. V usually cooperates with S and MP and they want very high taxes and a large redistribution of money. The left party is very far from the liberal and conservative parties.
The Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterna)
The Social Democrats originate from the labor movement, hence their strong connection to the trade unions. Nowadays, however, not as many workers vote for the Social Democrats. The Social Democrats want high taxes and a big state. There is a big difference between liberal parties and the Social Democrats. One might also say that S wants the state to decide over the individual to a greater extent than the liberal and conservative parties.
The Green Party (Miljöpartiet)
The Green Party was started with a focus on environment and climate issues. At the start it was a liberal party but has become more and more a left-wing party. They like to cooperate with the Social Democrats and the Left Party. It has also lost a lot of voter support in recent years as many voters think that the MP has an overly open migration policy, but also that the MP bears a large part of the blame for the energy problems we have in Sweden today. There is a risk that the MP will leave the Riksdag in 2022.
The Center Party (Centerpartiet)
The Center Party has its background among farmers and therefore agriculture, the environment and entrepreneurship are very important issues. Safe and locally produced food is one of the most important issues. In recent years, the Center has moved to be more purely liberal. This means that people like freedom and equality, among other things. The Center is also a humanist party where it is important to have a humane migration policy.
The Liberals (Liberalerna)
The Liberals are, as the name suggests, liberals. This means that, just like C, people think it is important to have human freedom, equality, low taxes, personal responsibility and protect the rights of minorities. The Liberals changed their name a few years ago, previously they were called the People's Party. The Liberals have very weak opinion figures and are at risk of leaving the Riksdag in 2022. Many voters think that C is a much more clearly liberal party today.
The Moderates (Moderaterna)
The Moderates are a liberal and conservative party. The party is positive to market economy and capitalism, and believes that freedom is made possible through measures such as reduced taxes, privatization and deregulation. It's a big party so there are a lot of different orientations and in recent years friction between those who like the current, tougher policy with tougher punishments and lower immigration.
The Christian Democrats (Kristdemokraterna)
The Christian Democratic ideology is characterized as being conservative when it comes to cultural, social and moral issues (and leans towards social conservatism) while often advocating a social market economy. The Christian Democrats describe themselves as a "value-oriented idea party" that "stands for democracy built on a Christian view of humanity and values" and asserts itself to the continental Christian democratic tradition with ideas such as personalism, man and his imperfection, stewardship, subsidiarity and solidarity.
The Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna)
The Sweden Democrats originate from the white power movement and have a dark history. Party leaders before Jimmy Åkesson have been openly racist. Since entering the Riksdag, they have tried to remove the racist label from the party and refer to themselves as social conservatives. This means a mixture between the Social Democrats and the Moderates.

How is the survey carried out?
Novus interviews eligible voters and randomly selected Swedes by phone and SMS. Around 500 new interviews are conducted daily and the article is updated daily with the combined figures of the last three days - that is around 1,500 people.
