Oscar de la Hoya's venture into the MMA landscape did not last long.

The boxing promoter put on Golden Boy MMA back in November that had Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell 3 as the main event. Since the inaugural event, there has been little to no talk about another, and at the World MMA Awards on Wednesday, Ortiz confirmed the promotion is defunct.

"Yeah it's dead. They are just in the boxing business and I can leave it there," Ortiz said to TSN. "I gave them the opportunity to run with something and make it huge but it just didn't work out. I did what I needed to do promotion wise."

The UFC Hall of Famer added that he cannot be mad at De La Hoya as he helped him land another fight contract, as Ortiz recently signed with Combate Americas. But, the 44-year-old admits De La Hoya did not know enough about MMA before trying to promote it.

"Oscar just really didn’t put his homework in and he didn't do what he wanted to do for mixed martial arts," Ortiz concluded.
