Economy Trade War is Here - USA vs. China

Good thing for Iran, China is building a pipeline then.

I dont know much about the iranian oil industry but a lot of the oil left in the world requires cutting edge tech to get out, i think only Saudi Arabia has easy oil.

Thats one of the reasons Venezuela is fucked despite having a lot of reserves, they cant get it out and its crappy quality so it requires a lot of technology to process.

I'm sure our oil industry traded that tech to China for buying oil in the past.

That has been the corporate America playbook for decades. Give China the
Keys to the future in exchange for a bump in quarterly profits.

Reserves are pointless if you cant get them out though.

Who better to get them out than the second wealthiest single nation on earth with the second largest oil refining industry.

Are you laughing at math?

What % of our GDP is from global trade?

Do you understand the scale of the economy? The 2008 depression was less than 2% drop in GDP and it nearly sent the entire world into a death spiral.

And we made it through that just fine.

When the rest of the world is eating dirt to survive, we will be just fine.

We are energy independent, capable of feeding ourselves, and have every industrial base and natural resource a country could need.

We don't need the rest of the world. This is the one thing Trump seems to understand, that all the smart people don't.

We created world trade, to combat the USSR. We had a deal going with Europe. We provide defense, you liberalize trade. The deal doesn't make sense anymore.

Isn't regulating commerce between the states and foreign entities one of the few reasons the federal government was formed? Agree with the trade war or not, in this regard America was never intended to be a totally free market.

Indeed, our Founders, when the government was established, did put strictures in place on the market. I remember reading letters from concerned merchants in Boston and NYC pertaining to limits on barrel sizes, and other such things they found to be absurd.

There is a point, which Trump has crossed, however, where it becomes protectionism, and one might say socialist in nature. Then again, I find it insane that the President is involving himself in private businesses at all. Nobody really seems to care about that, but it's another issue I guess.

Let me add that no one really likes China. Definitely not their neighbors.

America definitely does some scummy stuff over seas, but we're angels historically speaking compared to other empires.
That's why a lot of countries begrudgingly allow us to be the sole #1 super power.
Too many large players like India, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Australia, Russia, Taiwan, the Philippines..etc just won't allow China to become too dominant. (And not it hasn't already happened)

Another thing to consider is that China is so fucked that if they let unemployment get too bad there will be massive riots. If China makes too much money and a large middle class keeps on developing, they're going to cause huge and well funded subversive movements. Such is the position China is in, constantly walking a fine line.

If only there were some sort of Partnership that spanned the Trans Pacific so that countries would've banded together to keep China in check. It wouldn't have been perfect but it would've been better than the USA trying to go it alone with bluster and tweeting...

Oh wait...

Made it through that just fine.... :/ Look how many trillions of dollars was spent bailing out companies and banks, all of that was put on credit. That debt which hasn't even begun to be paid off and is actually expanding. If another recession hits the economy is fucked, there are no funds to for bailouts and interest rates are still super low.

Doesn't matter.

The dollar is stronger than ever.

As long as the Petro dollar is intact, we can spend the world's reserve currency and everyone has to eat it.

When the petro dollar collapses, the whole monetary system will collapse, no matter what we do.

What's the dollar going to be worth when you kick out nearly 1/3rd of our GDP and no one wants to trade with us?

China needs to be dealt with for sure, but the US is not competing with them with our current regulations and Chinas lack there of
