Yes, the guy that got beat by JDS that most people saying was shot prior to fighting Rothwell. I'm just pointing out the instability of the HW division.

Sneaky Overeem is different to Overeem. He is more patient and uses footwork. Strikes when he isnt in danger of getting hit and moves. Means he gets hit less often and for that chin not to be tested.

I really dislike people saying fighters have glass chins in the upper echelon of the HW division (Bigfoot doesnt count). All of them have 1 punch KO power.

I need to watch some more tape. First impulse is to favor Stipe but not sure how much. Econoreem definitely won't run and chase him around like Werdum just did and gift him the KO. That said, I think Stipe has a bit faster hands and obviously is just fine with his power (most HW's are of course). Stipe doesn't seem to be overwhelmed by big moments either. In Brazil tonight, entire crowd and country against him, he looked relaxed and cool. I think I'd probably believe a bit more in his chin at this point too.

So yeah, I just don't know where I'd cap it yet. Initial lean is Stipe as a slight to moderate favorite. -160 to -200 range.

reem still gets cought and freezes against the fence though if you put preasure on him.. miocic strikes me as a smart enough fighter hwo would be able to exploit that.

Having Wonderboy on the pre fight and post fight show makes me wish his fight with Rory was tomorrow night.

Might be the guy I most look forward to seeing fight these days.

As someone who has backed Overeem a lot recently, I think Stipe would catch him. Overeem still uses the guard up, shell defense which doesn't do well in MMA. If Stipe keeps him on the back foot with straight punches, I think Overeem will fold. It's a different matchup than Overeem/JDS as JDS relies on his jab and a big punch to follow. Stipe hits with the volume which will give Overeem's shell game a problem.

Both Nelson and Arlovski pressured Reem against the fence and he defended well, I think it's something they've really worked on since he's been at Jackson's. His defence in those situations is lightyears beyond where it was just a few fights ago.

Miocic is still a pure wrestle boxer, you know exactly what he is going to throw, Overeem would eat that up. He just ko'ed Werdum but I would say that was a result of some pretty bad fight IQ and him chasing him around the outside of the cage. Overeem seems pretty aware of his chin deficiencies these days and would walk him down pretty calculated and I like his diversity in the striking game over Miocic. Who knows though, obviously could be very incorrect.

i dont agree.. roy had him hurt against the fence at least a couple times but instead of going for the finish he went for some dumbass takedown attempts... arlovski had him up against the fence to and landed some nice shots but he backed off and started fighting on the backfoot instead of keeping the preasure on him..

Yea is Overeem really gonna get Stipe out of there? i mean with the exception of JDS leaving himself wide open Econoreem is pretty underwhelming in his finishing ability.
Would his chin hold out for 5 rounds? specially considering he's gonna have to actually stuff takedowns this time.

you gotta get lucky. the last big score i had from a small entry ($3 in hockey) paid 3000, and i couldn't believe i was the only one w/the picks i made. just lucky. (only 4 games happened that night and i had the top lines from two of the 8 teams.. no one else had that out of thousands of entries)

you need 5/5 finishes almost certainly to make the big bucks here in mma on those bigger tournaments. or 4 if it's a night with only a few finishes.

Don't know how Draft Kings works but it is screwy that Maia doesn't score more points in a fight he dominated virtually every second of before winning by finish.
