I'm not trolling. You also do realize there is something called sparring right? There are guys that have crumbled in their MMA careers but haven't "shown" a crazy amount of damage inside the cage. A PRIME example is Chris Weidman who looked pretty good up until Rockhold pounded him out...then what happened. Do you really think the 1x Rockhold beating fucked him up forever or was it accumulative, stuff we didn't see in sparring and never will (Chris wasn't even that old when this started to happen). There's also that Forrest Griffin story of getting KO'd in sparring and then fighting Anderson Silva and collapsing the way he did over a really weak punch thrown by Anderson.

These shots in the head they take are brutal. I can pull up some journals if you really want to read the real effects even a few hard hits can do to someone permanently.

exposure to blunt force trauma to your head = brain has trouble with the most basic motor skills + memory, reaction time..a plethora of issues. Head trauma can also fuck with your hormones which is a whole new world of fuck you to your body. It doesn't need to be those big KO shots to cause this kind of damage, it's just MUCH worse when it is from multiple KOs.

If you guys think this has ZERO effect on the performance of fighters, especially AGING fighters then okay. Can't convince everyone the earth isn't flat either.

Tempted by that Holly decision line.
Just my 2 cent I think the only wmma fighter Pennington finishes Saturday is The Tiny Tornado Torres.

The reality is that were both armchair analysts. The difference is there is documented proof of what I'm saying vs the emotions you're running.

She has. I just did a quick peak, lots of ugly 3 rounders for Pennington. Holly has a fought a total 77x in combat sports though, lots of wear and tear for 38 years old. Some guy's can take a fucking shot for a long time like Hendo did but that isn't really common is it now.

Which is still fucking impressive, shit I wish I could say I did 1/10th of her accomplishments.

Decline is a very slow process. Holly will look exactly like her last 3 bouts, she is a dedicated martial artist who takes very good care of herself. Pennington might be younger but athletically she is way behind holm. She is physically not even able to throw a headkick.

Decline is 100% not a slow process. You're not even going to find any science articles that would back that statement. Holly might have a better diet than Raquel and can throw better head kicks yes.

Just a question, how old are you that you think a 38 year old professional athlete (aside from Yoel Romero) can compete at the same level of performance they did in their prime, unhindered by time and long term injuries? Even as MMA fans we've rarely seen aging athletes do well. RIP BJ Penn. Raquel has a far better chance beating her than you guys are giving her. Don't let Holly's perfectly shaped abs fool you. If Holly wasn't 38, I wouldn't be chirping about Pennington at all.

The Preacher's Mother was somewhat of an unknown in her debut vs Rocky. Rocky started figuring her out later in the fight and won round 3. Holm is noticeably slower now and past her prime. I do expect it to be close with the forward movement of Rocky swinging it her way.

I saw in Rizin a 45 lady beating up everywhere a 26 old, after tape I think that even a 45 years old Holly is way better that Rocky, she is tough, she can take a beating, but can she put one on someone? I dont know, Holly is way too good, age and decline is not enough argument, she is not a man.

There is people betting a 42 years old Oleinik. Me after a sparring sesion feel my body pretty bad, I cant imagine all the injuries that Oleinik had and how cracked that body is right now, after so many fights, alla that subs and ko's. Holly is far away from there

If ferreira loses ima cry, i got some action on haqparast too, those 2 should be locks.
I went a little too big on Greene but i thought his line at close to evens was too good.

My main concern in this card is my fourth and usually losing bet on Rocky, like i'd be shocked if Rocky gets outboxed here, but it feels like its one of those fights where Rocky is winning some exchanges and you are yellling at her to do a little more and she never does and loses a split. Its just i always win at wmma and this was the best bet on the card for women, so i got a 3 unit bet on a fight that is certainly gonna be a split decision. i just keep adding lil tiny bets and before i knew it i had 3 units on her and some more on her decision line.

    Mazo
    Osbourne
    Ladet
    Askarov
    Fili
    Barber
    Nasrat
    Green
    CDF
    Pennington
    McGregor

Ladet and Fili would be my least confident picks.

Anything you'd recommend on either girl?
I wanted to like Pennington but that GDR fight kinda turned me away.

She was having some major outside the cage issues for the GDR fight which showed on the scale and in the fight. My only play on this one is Pennington DEC +172 $300

Someone in the MMA Media had the balls to write this article:

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles...ors-hes-paid-to-take-a-dive-vs-conor-mcgregor

The fact this article was even published is one more drop in the bucket why I am not betting on this fight. It is far, far too risky.

    Merit - Cowboy wins
    Anything else - Conor wins

Money = corruption and Conor commands way too much money for the UFC to let him get knocked out here.
BUT if the fight is for real based on skill only - Cerrone wins 9/10 times.

You're missing the point, which is why one reason I don't bother trying to correct faulty thinking nowadays.

We have no idea how hard Holm's sparring is or isn't. We have no idea whether her degree of head trauma will affect her performance or not.

What we do know is that she wasn't showing any obvious signs of brain trauma against Nunes, so it's baseless to assume that she is suddenly going to do so against Pennington after a single head kick knockout and a little more sparring.

There are other causes for concern with Holm, such as her age and ability to maintain her cardio, but "brain trauma" has no basis in observable fact. It's mere conjecture.

Then again, I'm trying to talk sense into the same guy who doubled down on Holm possibly being PED-free.

Well that weird claymation Mcgregor Reebok shoe ad just explained the terrible shirt design I guess. Either that or they steered into the skid like a boss.

When did I say I know for sure Holm was ped free? Excuse me? I said I have zero proof other than an eye test to say different and even then I'm no eye test expert. I said she never failed a test.

Stop trying to put words in my mouth that I never said to add to your "argument". I never once said Holm is a clean fighter, I only said I never came across any hard evidence that she's dabbled. Aka, I'm not an expert in PEDs nor do I have insider camp information on her potential usage. And guess what, neither do you.

Try to use some form of logic VS feelings when you want to discuss something and provide actual evidence on your claims. You literally have never read nor understand brain trauma. You don't need to take 5 KO hits to get it, you don't need to be slurring like Chuck to have it, you especially don't recover well from it at age 38.

At the end of the day I still respect your opinions though. Holly is still the better fighter out of the 2.

If Roxy brings as much energy to the cage as she did to the walkout I may have to take a stab. Maybe that's just the DBZ fan in me talking but I like her size advantage and presence.
Not hating Pettis either as the slightly larger more pissed looking striker.
The whole UFC cuts his brother "USADA cut me" thing has me sketched out still though
