If your goal is to be champion it is
No that judge isn't "stupid" but imo the round literally has to be DEAD EVEN on all other factors before you use that as criteria. Guys that run, then run more, and never throw strikes designed to hurt the other person or shoot for takedowns should be penalized imo. Guys that don't want to stand and trade the whole time so run away to reset but THEN THROW MORE POWER SHOTS (and land them!) should not be penalized for showing good fight IQ.
I don't think I'm saying anything controversial here am I?
Are people really saying Lineker is a one trick pony though? Obviously he has takedown defense, ability to make his opponent uncomfortable standing, a grappling base that isn't bad, cardio, etc. Sure, he's not as well rounded as someone like Cruz, but it's silly to act as though he's just a wing and hope he gets the KO type guy. He's gone at least to the last round in 5 of his last 7 and he has wins in 6 of those. It's not like he's banking on early KOs.
If 1 guy out lands the other let's say 26-22. But the guy landing 22 is moving forward the entire round. I have no problem giving the round to the guy landing less.
It was literally said multiple times
Anyone just watching the highlights right now with their commentary? Those exchanges were Dodson or even at best - literally, all of them.
He is a pressure fighter who wings power hooks. Tonight was no different. No one is saying he isn't good at it, but thats how he fights every time. His tdd is to be determined, he hasn't fought a good offensive wrestler yet at 135
He has a nice guillotine as a counter wrestling tool too. I think he's strong for the division physically too. Yeah, he's not a one trick pony. No way.
U don't think a guy with that skill set can be champion?
Again, another one I must have been absent for. Just like the arguments for Lineker's forward pressing winning him a decision (which people would have been pounding his decision line). Granted, I rarely check the thread anymore.
Yea. U must have missed almost the entire conversation. Plenty had him by decision.
Not a chance in hell he touches Cruz or Dillashaw
Come on. Cruz and TJ would make him look awful.
One trick pony cause the guys moves forward and wings hooks. He does that for 25 mins and somehow people are arguing hes not a one trick pony
That could be the case. This was literally the lowest stake I've had on a UFC in multiple years.
Depends on the strikes landed obviously. But if both are landing similar type strikes (power shots) I don't see why moving forward matters. So the guy moving away or waiting to counter is slightly more effective but he should be penalized? My opinion is no, but that's just me.
I suppose if a guy NEVER moved forward AT ALL that's different. Because if neither guy did, it would be a staring contest. But Dodson did pick a few spots where he did. He initiated a few exchanges. Meaning he wasn't there to run, he was there to fight. Just not in a phone booth. And if he was more effective (and I think he was, if barely), he shouldn't be penalized for it.
Same shit was said this fight
Seriously. How can u say that after this fight happened. U and a few guys in here said basically the same thing about this fight. Come on man
Except Dodson has a lot less ways of using his speed. He circled and never cut angles. He used his speed in his strikes and darting straight in. Plus those guys can hit reactive tds for days, Dodson can't. Higher output too. It wouldn't even be close
Won 4 Units tonight
23-8 on cards
Super stoked for ufc 204. Got a lot of fights I like on that card!
Hope everyone else had a good betting night
