Warning: Nightmare with BetUNfair

Just want to warn you guys over a nightmare i am having with betfair atm.

they shut me out of my account wihile i was live betting 10 days ago. they told me it was bc my acccount may have been compromised and said they would transfer my account to another email address.

nothing happened for 10 days, i put my foot down today and my new account was opened. while my cash balance was still there, none of my bets were there, over 20u.

I asked them and they said they cant transfer bets. contact them when bets are settled. wtf

I am now asking for manager and want them to cash out my bets and send me my money. just to clarify, all the bets are on the exchange, not the sports book.

what if my new account is 'compromised' as well? how can this be a real policy? its a like a bad joke.

The fair way to settle it is to cash out my wagers and return my money. How can anyone function under such rules?

Latest is the agent will put in request to transfer bets to new account. have to wait a couple of days to see if it happens. weird, now after they told me they can't transfer bets, now suddenly they can?

why not just do it in the first place?
 
You won't get much traction posting this here.
Take it up at sportsbookreview. They will follow up on any issues for you. If I ever have an issue where I feel like I'm in the right, I just tell the book that I'll be addressing the issue with SBR. If they're not super confident in their position, they might relent.

Edit: Just realized that your issue was resolved. Not sure if exchanges care about their SBR rating since I don't use them. Hopefully it works out for you.

Sadly, SBR, especially nowadays, is fairly scummy themselves.

They receive money from books to advertise, and generally treat players as criminals and sports books as innocent victims.

Appreciate the info. I wouldn't say it's sorted yet. I got 20-30 mins. of kafkaesque double speak b4 the agent agreed to send in a request. Who knows if it will be approved?

Not transferring my exchange bets to my new account makes no sense.

they did the exact same thing to me like 2 years ago
 
that's weird, why couldn't they just ask you to change password, and verify it is you?

a couple years ago, they moved some of the business from ireland to romania iirc, the customer service is pretty shite now but i'd guess they will work it out eventually. they probably have to wait for office hours to address it too, they don't have 24/7 support anymore.

Not sure, all a bit weird to me too. I have activated 2FA on my new account. If I get my bets moved, I think I will just cash out. Its left a bad taste in my mouth. Its been 2 weeks since they closed my account and I am still trying to get this thing sorted.

Its a nightmare if you are betting large amounts on something that will happen in November, I need to be free to change my position or cash out completely up to last moment, that the premise under which I entrusted my money in their exchange.

I cant think of a rational reason for them not to move them. I think its just dumb bureaucracy of a large company, but who needs this shit?

Anyway, I am going to activate 2fa on every account that I use, wherever possible, I dont need to deal with this shit again.

I'm trading in all my bets on the US presidential election. I've had enough.

mostly I think it's just a giant disconnect between there customer service and the tech workers/traders etc. I feel you on the election though lol, im taking a semi break from it too, just keeping a lose eye on it for a couple weeks.
