was tony ever that good

Hate these stupid fucking threads. He had a massive win streak in the toughest division in the sport so yeah he was pretty fucking good.
Its as if people get off on being one of idiots that say "so and so is done."

He had a short notice fight with a monster, went to decision with the new champ, and got smothered recently. 3 Ls, yes, but not exactly a destruction.

Not a fan of Tony, but that list was way slanted. He was really good, but not in top 5 company probably ever. Then Gaethje broke him physically, and probably mentally. Retirement or departure to a less competitive organization would be a good idea, unless he doesn't mind being everybody's bitch and severely damaged.

was tony ever that good

The typical day after a ppv event thread when a good fighter loses...

Tough and durable and creative.

But skill wise not a championship level fighter. That win streak had a lot of fluff in it.

Nope. Always sucked. 15 wins in UFC were all flukes.

Didnt read any of this shit thread.

Yes he was very good.

Just chilling in the "best organization in the world" (with super best fighters, according to another thread just posting how the UFC is teh BEST EVERZ) -- I dunno, for a decade and going like, what, 15-4? Yup, never any good at all.

What a stupid thread.... And Oliviera got rocked by Chandler last night too. Getting rocked means nothing. Surviving after getting rocked and winning shows a lot more.

Going on a 15-1 run in the UFC with 9 finishes in the toughest division in MMA is doing pretty damn good.

Typical fighter was never that good thread.
Tony is more hard work than talent. Hard work just isn’t enough in this game, certainly when you get older.

Lol he has multiple former Champs on his resume.. Yeah never that good.

Tonys toughness and cardio is unmatched but his skill set was definitely overrated.

His strengths matched up perfectly against guys like cowboy and pettis, who typically fold under pressure. Once he started fighting elite guys that could handle the toughness and pressure, his poor fundamental skills got exposed

Tibau besides beating Khabib? Teh fuck? That analysis pic is a complete joke.

Tony doesn't have the speed or explosiveness that he relies on for his unorthodox entries and scrambles. It's like watching Wanderlei post OWGP. Chins gone, no defense, and just getting beat to the punch repeatedly by people he wafflestomps a few years back.

According to Sherdog the only way to have ever been any good is to retire in your prime.
