Was Your Thread Deleted, Moved or Merged? Ask about it here - Vol 4

Happened twice in the last week. Deleted my post in a thread about bryce mitchell equating people's lack of hunting ability with political disposition, i was literally stating how strange it is that everything boils down to politics, literally on topic, so i guess my question is which one of you have i upset and is this going to keep happening?

Dear mods,

My post broke a rule. It was unnecessary

Can one of you please explain what is a unnecessary post? I would like to be a necessary contributor to your fine forum.

I would also like to help you and flag other unnecessary posts.

Thank you for your time and efforts.

I did not delete your post, however your post was likely deleted because it infused politics and unrelated social topics that weren’t relevant or necessary to a conversation taking place. The conversation was meant to be about a fighters sponsorship they acquired, not the direction you were taking it.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have questions about what may be appropriate for the sub feel free to shoot me a pm and I’m happy to hash it out with you.

Hello Mods,

Seems a few posts including the only one I made today were deleted from this thread - https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...including-a-felony-for-strangulation.4232052/

Curious as to why and asking for an explanation please and thanks.

PS - I'm not 100% certain it was that thread as I have no way to trace it, twas one of the chael assault threads though
Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out in such a calm manner I really appreciate it. One of the major ongoing difficulties of our ufc discussion moderation is keeping politics out of the sub forum and directing folks to our war room sub community that is specifically designed for politics discussions.

Topics like race, terrorism, right vs left, BLM, and Covid can really create hostility and the ufc discussion sub forum isn’t designed to house that kind of conversation. It can be really difficult given the climate we have of ufc stars being featured in new articles themselves I.E. chael, mas, and Cain. However, we still have to draw a line somewhere so that users looking to discuss MMA, and MMA topics have a place to do so.

Your comment in particular didn’t drag politics into the conversation on a high level, however, it was quoting, and quoted by significant derails that mentioned almost every political/societal category I listed earlier.

The acting moderator chose to remove the posts as a whole to try and redirect the thread to its intended topic.

Thank you

I made a thread about effective aggression in the scoring criteria and somebody merged it with the Yan-Sterling megathread.

I spent a long time writing the OP and only about a paragraph or two at the end mentioned Yan and Sterling so I was wondering if somebody could unmerge that?

Or should I just repost the thread minus the part about Yan and Sterling?

I created the thread below to ask War Room posters why they care more about Hunter Biden than Jared Kushner and why there was such a disparity in focus?

The OP video focused directly on that question and the hypocrisy.

Seems to me to be a perfectly appropriate topic and question for the War Room and our left/right battles and focus and why they play out as they do so I am curious why it got sent to the great beyond???

More On Hunter Biden...
And that is that what Jared Kushner is doing is so much worse and yet none of you Trump derps care.

I posted a pic in a thread about Bruce Buffer.
Seems like the last post before that was feb 2022.
I got a notification : deleted for necro thread bumping.

But I found the thread by the heavies page or maybe my list of subscribed threads
that someone recently posted in. I did not mean to bump an old thread for nothing.

My post in the thread "GSP was never P4P No.1 ?" was deleted. Reason? "Necro thread bump". The issue here is I wasn't the one who bumped the thread and there was already a bunch of recent posts. This indicates that an overzealous mod deleted a bunch of people's posts and closed the thread solely because they didn't like the topic.

I don't see a legitimate reason to delete my post just because someone else bumped an old thread. Necro threads get bumped all the time and this is the first time I've seen my comment deleted for that reason.

I realize that this particular thread is worthless and nothing will ever be done about it but hear me out: this forum would be a better place if the mods had to follow rules like the rest of us.

Sometimes when a thread gets necro bumped, there might be a poster or two that gets into the thread before we do.

We remove all posts, and often lock the thread.

It’s not over zealousness. It’s just the best way to resolve a necro bumped thread. We have to deal with them or it causes the website issues.

What kind of issues does it cause? You mean people bumping really old threads causes the website to crash, run slowly or something like that?

Yeah, I’ve been told indexing and things similar to what you mentioned. I’m not involved in the tech enough to see it myself, but it’s been made clear from more experienced mods and tech guys it becomes a problem

Hi, not trying to be a nuisance or come across patronizing to the mods & admins, but I have a serious question: why do many of my comments repeatedly get deleted? I honestly call bullshit, and Im starting to get very annoyed that many posters can post outright racist, homophobic, xenophobic, and bigoted comments throughout the forum without consequence, yet multiple times over now I have gotten a "thread detail" deletion on many of my posts. Admittedly many of the "threads derailing" comments I post in topics can be left leaning politically, which I try to avoid, but even if it's slightly controversial it almost always get deleted for supposedly "derailing" the thread (i.e. talking about Rose Namujuna's disdain for socialism in a thread about her mindset affecting her losing), even if the thread was a shitshow in general, and even if there are just as bad comments if not worse comments in a topic. I fail to understand why.

But the straw that broke the camel's back is this one: "Your post in Jon Jones learning to have fun sober was deleted. Reason: Quoting a deleted post."

Why???

This makes no sense, as when I quoted that so called "deleted post" it was still up and available to read, and the fact that my comment was controversial in the sense that I criticized Dana White for enabling Jon Jones and being his personal savior.... raises my eyebrow.

So, is there a certain precedent or rule I need to follow when posting? Is the UFC forum that strict? Is there a certain mod out there that has it out for me? Are a lot of people reporting my comments? I don't find the point in posting here if I cant speak my mind. I thought "free speech" was a thing, I'm almost never disrespectful to other posters and about most fighters, and IMO these actions feed into the anti leftist/progessive conservative bias (not unlike the UFC) this forum is notorious for.

I just don't understand why this keeps happening to me. Can anyone explain?

Looking through that thread, your post was not the only one which was deleted for quoting a deleted post. That is just standard practice, nothing to do with you personally.

Nobody has it out for you, political threads and posts in nature do not belong in the UFC section, regardless of which end of the political spectrum they fall under. We will either move them to the War Room or delete them.

No, as per the forum rules everyone agrees to when signing up:

Do not plead the first amendment and cite your right to free speech. It does not apply to the private sector. This is a privately owned website. Dancing around the rules, purposely skirting them just to see us twitch will not help you out much, either.

Fair enough, so youre saying absolutely no political comments in the Heavies whatsoever, there's no favoritism by mods/admins, and I can't just say whatever I want. So basically if I want to say anything even slightly political at all, go try my luck vastly outnumbered in the war room. I agree the UFC section should be politically free, but it's going to be very irritating if someone like Covington makes something political and I can't even speak my mind on it.

Just kind of tired of my posts getting deleted repeatedly while outright bigotry and bullshit gets to stay in the UFC forum. I guess it is what it is. I love MMA, but most fans are brainwashed idiots and it shows on this forum. It is what it is.

Thanks for your response.

If you see a post that is bigoted in the Heavies, please report it. People are regularly banned and carded for these kinds of things but if a post like that is up, then odds are it hasn't been reported, we can't see every post and rely on reports to find things like this.

My thread was just deleted. I read the rules. What have I missed?
