What are you playing now? v2

Well, I polished off Far Cry 5.

Seems like the game got some online hate - personally, I loved it.

I liked the role playing elements and all the characters that help out. I probably should have upped the difficulty because I did a lot of exploring, top weapon purchases, and levelling up before tackling most of the outposts and main missions so I was pretty much a god.1)

My gripes (nitpicking):
1) need one more weapons slot. I would love having 5 instead of 4. You always want to have a bow on you for stealth. Also always like a silence sniper rifle. A versatile machine gun. A shotty. And a rocket launcher. Handgun slot makes sense. But I just didn't like going around without one of two of those which invariably I had to.

2) AI was mediocre and variety of enemies wasn't big enough. I would have liked some more bad ass enemies that when you run into them you get on edge because you know it will be a tough fight.

3) Faith was hawt-HAWT-HAWT. Needed to sex her up or show her titties! hahahah

Have been playing Dicey Dungeons, the new game from Terry Cavanagh. Gorgeous Roguelike game with dice mechanics and 6 unique characters so far.

need to seriously make some money to pay off bounties, too many people talking out of pocket after i'm nice enough to greet them
<{nope}>

Oh' yeah, the bounties can add up quick if you're being a maniac. The solution is to be a bigger maniac, and rob and murder your way to pay off the price on your head.

Seriously though, the bounty hunters can get irritating. The whole game stops just for them. There are some neat little cut scenes if you let yourself get captured by them though.

yeah i noticed that straight away, they're about as aggressive as the cops in the ps4 version of gta5 i.e. annoying as fuck. glad i paid for the extra dlc so i have the fastest horse already if i don't feel like fighting.

after i rescued micah i've got random o'driscolls on-sighting me which is fun though, makes the long rides more entertaining and the cops don't seem to care.

Yeah, as the game goes on, you'll get familiar with a bunch of different groups that will trigger random encounters. Wait until you run into the crazy hill people. There's also some interesting types in the swamp area by Saint Denis. Just wander around that area at night. Shit gets creepy real fast.

Thats been in the main game for a few years now also, with the Rockstar Editor content, is it now in the online part?
just some video saying files for the peyote locations had been put into online since just before the casino update. it's a solid channel that doesn't clickbait and if you search for 'gta online peyote' there's other videos on it. i hope it's true cos this could be even funnier than the rc bandito

I was playing Sniper Elite 4 which is free on the PSN this month. Not bad, not bad at all.

I'm not 100% sure but I picked up the Deluxe Edition and do have a quest queued called Atlantis something; the font colour is a unique red and I'm assuming that's a marker for it being an expansion. Sound right or no?

Dude, the final hull upgrade for my baby costs over 200K drachmae?

Yeah, the red is the DLC and the blue is the free missions.

The final upgrades to the ship are ridiculous

I finally finished the last Atlantis DLC. So with the game and all six parts of the expansion... level 85, 168 hours...1760/1850 achievements. I could go back and get the last few but I don't give a shit about getting 100 percent for a few tedious ones.

Life is Strange 2 - Episode 3 downloaded last night so I'll be on that for a couple nights.

So I guess DMC5 bombed pretty hard. Already on Game Pass. Looked pretty solid for what it is. I'll probably grab it tomorrow.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Ehhh, it's kind of overstaying it's welcome with these boring ass "Epilogue" sections that don't seem to want to end. It's still RDR2, just with all the guts ripped out of it, and all you seem to be doing is going on bland bounty missions. It's so tiresome, that I'm wondering if the people who eventually soured on it, were just left with a bad taste in their mouths from this boring, redundant shit. Look game, I get it. You're building up to the beginning of RDR. A few missions and some cut scenes would've sufficed. This is overkill. Just fucking end already.

I found Arthur lacking when compared to Marston so I sincerely enjoyed the epilogue.

Was kind of a theme with RDR2. Nothing felt like it had any real substance to it. It was big and beautiful but ultimately felt hollow. Dutch and his never ending schemes just all started to feel the same by the midway point for me. Everything just became:

It was grating as hell. The epilogue was a welcome addition by the end of the game. Overall I enjoyed it. You don't spend 50+ hours in something you can't stand but yeah, was a definite disappointment for me when compared to RDR. I just don't think these massive R* games are for me anymore.

I find it to be cheap padding, personally. I really loved the Morgan character and his arc, and the game's balls to not make it about Marston(which would've been the easiest route). Now the game is in "Member Marston, and Uncle, and that other game you played to death?" territory. I wouldn't mind it so much, if the game gave you more incentive to truly flesh out the experience. You can still fuck around, but there isn't really a purpose to it, now that the whole camp dynamic is scrapped.

It's like, I know where this ends, so can you just end it already?

Fair enough in being sick of the Rockstar formula though. Personally, I thought the game did a lot to evolve the formula, but since none of it was mandatory, I understand how some felt like a lot of it was pointless. You really have to choose to lose yourself in it. If you don't, it's just another Rockstar open world game, where you go from mission to mission.

Nice. I'm currently lvl 68 and at some 110h; my end-game build circles around crit and fire with heavy blunt being my only mainstay for weapons of mass destruction. Picked up an overpriced katana on Melos called Yumminess that boasts 250% buff to Warrior DMG but cancels out all abilities; it's obviously interesting but I missed abilities too much (my deity game is the only show in town) and didn't use it for long – 100K+ drachmae down the toilet.

I'm close to trophying platinum at this point so I'm leaning towards not walking away until I nab it. I beat the campaign last night (still heaps to do) and my final thought standing cliffside was – this is an awesome game. Got glassy-eyed over (a) but Greek tragedy, no? I wished they'd have put better, sharper, wittier writing into Sokrates. He's obviously a memorable historical figure to feature in your game so why not elevate his dialogue about the bumbling status quo?

Going to focus on Cult of Kosmos, DLC, and trophying now. I'd like to level to 70 as well; seems like a solid power peak to ascend to.

Devil May Cry 5

Full disclosure: I'm salty because I'm rusty as all hell with these types of games and I'm getting my ass handed to me at the moment, but I'll try to keep my initial impressions objective.

Okay, so is this DMC, or MGS? Enough with the fucking cut scenes. It's an action game. I don't want a cut scene every two steps. Maybe it's just the initial sections of the game, but oh' my Christ are the cut scenes ever intrusive. On top of that, you've got loading screens for what seems like every single section. It's ridiculous, and doesn't let you get into any kind of flow. It'll throw some instructions on screen, you're like "Okay, lets try that out", and then BAM, another cut scene...followed by loading screen...followed by a brief gameplay segment...followed by another cut scene and loading screen...

Oy vey.

It did eventually seem to calm down, and let you go about it at a natural pace. Explored some building, fought a bunch, got some S ratings, and then I got to the first official boss in the game(the demon beast dude), and he just keeps whooping my ass, because I'm trying to be creative with what little amount of skills I have, and it's futile. Everything you've done up until that point, does not work. With the regular enemies, you're jumping, juggling, shooting, and doing whatever, and it's working. You get to this dick, and he's like "fuck all that. You gotta get boring, and dodge roll behind me, and slash away at my legs. If you try any kind of diverse attack pattern, I'll fuck your shit up quick."

That said, I think I just need to get over this first wall, and I'll be off to the races. At least I hope so. It seems to have a very robust combat system, with plenty of upgrades to experiment with, but this initial section is practically begging the player to get turned off immediately. The combat I can deal with. The load screens and cut scenes though...I hope they tone that shit down a bit going forward. I have a feeling it will tighten up, but this introduction is ROUGH to say the least.
