Medically, assuming you're strong enough to take Ngannou's one punch without being killed, taking one hard punch does less damage than five half as strong ones. The problem is that even the first punch from Poirer will concuss you, and then you take four additional punches on an increasingly concussed brain -- that can be deadlier than Ngannou's punch, and will almost certainly lead to long term neurological damage (slurred speech, headaches, depression etc).
Are you allowed to try to duck the punch (ie is it in the cage)? That would make it even smarter to take the one from Ngannou -- your chances of ducking one punch (or at least not being hit solidly) is much better than of ducking five punches.
I just watched an episode of the contender series where they said that the machine the ufc had that claimed Ngannou "hits like a ford escort" also says that a 145 female boxer with 0 knockouts in 44 boxing matches has the same power as Dustin Poirier. When Bisping heard that, he immediately said that Poirier hits like a girl <45>
