First I will post the JRE video and then post some videos (time marked) which counter a lot of the claims being made.

If you guys don't know who she is, Yeonmi Park is the most famous North Korean defector. She has been on many youtube channels telling her tragic tale of escape. This all sounds like a really sad story but when you do some digging things start to get real fishy.

1. On South Korean television she presents a different self, she and her mother say that they are like the "Paris Hilton" of North Korea. She comes from a wealthy family.

2. She says that she escaped the border into China with both her father and mother. She then later makes a speech and tells a different story. This time she says it was only her mother who crossed the border with her.

3. She makes the claim that she watched a person executed in public for watching a foreign film. Sometimes she says it is James Bond other times a South Korean film. Other North Korean defectors have also said that public executions were stopped several years prior to that date.

I'm sure that North Korea is a really shitty place but is there perhaps a chance that this young lady is being used by political organizations to fearmonger?

What do you guys think? Is she telling the truth or is there an agenda at play here?

Stories about crossing boarding.

On South Korean TV

I know I'll get called a commie and most people won't take a look into it so thank you. North Korea sucks but I still like to seek the truth.

Already there’s an inconsistency about her father. The story does seem intense, too, but that could be embellishing for a better story. Some of the views about her online do seem to be emanating from North Korean tankies (unsure if there’s a term). I would say there’s potential that the story is fake.

I would say that, above all, her body is an 8. Her face is closer to a six or seven. I think she had work done, if you’re into only natural women.

Those certainly are inconsistencies, but they don’t really strike me as grifter-style embellishments. Yeah, mom & dad vs. just mom is strange but I’ve heard bigger whoppers from people who have relived traumatic events.

I wonder if some of it was lost in translation if these other places you’re telling me she said other things were from some other medium than video.

are there any other examples?

She was a kid being thrown into the spot light. She probably has put some mustard on the stories she is talking about, but a quick read shows that her father attempted to escape with them but didn't continue the escape due to being sick. They might have escaped certain points before he turned back.
It also seems to me they went from being high and well up in society and then next thing you know they lost all status and were the lowest of the low. Attractive women suffer the most when it comes to human trafficking and sexual assaults are regular in these type of situations.
She could have just been a kid who saw someone get executed and heard third hand it was for a foreign movie. She was young enough she wouldn't have even known.

it could be all bullshit, but I would say it's somewhere in the middle in that it happened but not to the level she is saying. We have people thinking that misgendering them is the end of the world, whilst they try and belittle her experience escaping from an actual life threatening situation. People need a safe space if you yell at them, but want to pick through her story and try and delegitimize it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Yeon-mi I hate to use Wiki but it has some good links off it as I wasn't really aware of her before the most recent podcast tour and the 2014 vid.

When they appeared in South Korea media, the mother said they came from money and they show photographs making them not look very poor. That one is strange to me.

Something about her eyes makes me think she is lying...IDK why.

I think a lot of what happened to her is real but I think she embellishes a lot of these stories for fame. She identifies as a libertarian and you see that in the circles she is in. Peterson, Rogan, Tim Pool, etc. She goes on a lot of center/right-wing media. I think she knows that her audience already fears socialism and communism so it makes it pretty easy for her to make a living that way. I guess I'm kind of in the middle on this one too but that's why I said I feel she is a bit of a grifter.

I wouldn't doubt that a women who has lived in NK for most of her childhood and was then raped in China has some inconsistencies in her story. She's most likely a person who trust no one and will say what needs to be said for her own benefit because that's all she knows.

It was a good podcast but I'm not going to bother digging into the story cause frankly I just don't care much. NK is shit and this is well known. It's also well known that the people their are starving to death. It's also well known that China is enabling all of this. These were the most important messages in her story IMO.

Rogan is left. He just has people on from both sides and thinks Biden is senile. He likes right policies but he identifies with Bernie Sanders and wants everyone to have everything. Tim Pool has gone right as most do as they get older or earn more money. Peterson is just anti woke which puts him on the right.

The funny thing is that these journalists want to rip Yeomni Park's story apart, but you want to investigate people on the southern border and actually confirm their criminal history, legitimacy to seek asylum or if they are legitimate parents of the kids with them, you get called a racist.

This all comes down to which side of politics you identify with. She is speaking out against the censorship, mandates and similarities she sees in how North Korea was run to what is happening in the Western world. The Government should not have the ability to block speech even if it's offensive. If she was here calling for leftist policies she would be getting championed by the left and attacked by the right.

Rip her story apart if you like, but apply it both ways. She went through more than most people that seek asylum even if it was only her mum that escaped and she was rich before. If none of that happened she is full of shit, but still less than half the politicians that talk about their upbringing.

From what I understand it's actually quite common for North Korean defectors to tell lies. The man from Escape From Camp 14 also told lies, although it's clear a lot of his story was true.

The author of Escape From Camp 14 pointed out is a survival mechanism, because of what they went through. They've lied their whole life growing up in North Korea, out of necessity, and it's a hard habit to drop, for various reasons.

I think ripping her story apart is a bit of an exaggeration. I never said she lies about everything but I do think she makes it more dramatic because she likes the attention and fame that it has given her. I don't care if politicians lie more, lying is still bad.

I keep getting this episode recommended to me on YouTube, for some reason. Haven't watched it but this dude's face freaks me out. Apparently he claims to have been abducted by aliens, or some shit:
