There Is Now A Massive Rift Between Conor McGregor And Dana White

I wonder how big that "backroom bonus" will be for RDA if he pounds out McGregor in 1 round?

Does anyone else think that this thread was written as a puff piece for Jeremy Botter?

If true, Conor is like Indominus from "Jurrasic World" or Robert Ford from "The Assassination of Jesse James."
"Sometimes I don't know if you wanna be like me, or if you wanna be me" haha!

The problem in Show Biz is that you need superstars with drawing capacity to put asses in seats and sell PPVs. But superstars realize that you can't do it without them and then demand a bigger and bigger share of the pot - as the team owner in The Last Boy Scout put it - "gimme, gimme, gimme." So the industry is in a constant struggle to develop superstars and then has to turn around and fight with them. Same thing for the movie studios, baseball teams, record labels, TV networks, etc. etc.
I don't see Conor promoting his own fights but I see him leveraging his position for things like a bigger share of PPV's.

It's kind of ironic I think.
Sherdog is clamouring for;
higher fighter pay.
Fighters unions.
Anti reebok dictator sponsorship
UFC is full of B and C grade athletes bc the pay is a joke and real athletes choose high paying sports.

Etc etc

And here we have Conor going against the grain leveraging his drawing power to get payed serious bucks. Payving the way and setting an example for other top fighters to do the same and ppl are hating him for it.

Let's b serious here what if Conor decides in hisnext fight that he is going to wear Nike. Then Jon jones says fuck it and against DC wears adidas.
Werdum also trolls the fuck out the UFC in Puma.

Wtf is the UFC going to do? Fire their champions?
That's is exactly how movements start.

Conor has an opportunity to start the snow ball.
Once it gets traction the sport changes for good.

The top earners used to be happy enough to be the person Dana is always clinging to. Conor said fuck that I'm bigger than Uncle Fester.

Eh, judging by PPVs and stuff, Fedor really wasn't that much of a big name in US and A, though.

Conor is bit different animal.

He sure as hell would need to take some legit fighters from somewhere...

True, but I don't believe Conor's popularity, as it is, would carry as much weight anchoring his own promotion. MMA isn't hugely profitable as it is (compared to other major promotional sports) and the UFC has invested heavily in their brand recognition. Conor on his own is just another big mouth.

I hope Conor has some serious lawyers and business advisers etc because Zuffa have vastly more experience of business disputes and ruthlessness. I would not be surprised if he "failed" a USADA test if his demands become too much.

There is a reason why UFC pays millions of dollars to USADA and it has nothing to do with catching dopers, everything to do with control.

Are you wearing an aluminum foil hat to go with that wild conspiracy theory?

Conor barely cracks one million buys with "the biggest fight ever" while also being on a main card with another title fight and one of the most anticipated main cards in history and he's gonna start his own promotion?

Okay.

There is so much naivity in your post, it warrants an Unlike button.

Lmao he is stuck in a contract.. they could put conor on ice for years legally and conor wouldnt be able to do shit.. that or they could offfer him only really bad match-ups like the eagle.. trust conor may talk alot but he is still an employee

Assuming any of it is true, why would this be great news?

Why wouldn't it be? Conor is helping fighters by doing this. More money for Conor means more money for other fighters in the long run.

Suddenly the new moniker "McSnake" was born.

A man goes and buys a baby snake. Feeds it, takes care of it. Shows it love and devotion. Once the snake is full grown it bites the man who showed it nothin but devotion and love. When the man asks the snake why did you bite me the snake replies. Im a snake bro.... what did you expect.
this is the story of faber and TJ, not mcgregor and Zuffa

Funny how the guy who the Zuffa haters saw as the incarnation of UFC favoritism, hype and bullshit might actually be their biggest Champion in breaking the perceived Zuffa monopoly and opening the door for better fighter pay.
Funny how you think Conor is about better fighter pay and not just better pay for himself. If anything, this will probably cause a backlash against 99% of the roster when it comes to contract negotiations.

Having said that, good for Conor.

This is the real point. He can start his own promotion if he wants but he couldn't fight for it while under contract. Even if he's the draw people are thinking he is, could a promotion draw based on his name without him fighting?

This thread is about Conor. Leave Urijah Faber's problems out of it.

except he's the UFC's cash cow. They would rather have him fight and make money than not

Why is this so important to you?

Also, why do you think it means more money for the fighters? It probably means more money for the fighters already making monster money.

I'm comfortable with the Zuffa model. However, if somehow multiple promotions managed to get off the ground, and they didn't interfere with the very best fighters fighting one another, I'd be comfortable with that, too. I just don't think that's ever going to happen, I think steps in that direction will result in painful chaos and a fracturing of the talent pool. I also think that such a model would result in less money for the fighters who are currently struggling to make ends meet.
