Woodley's chances versus Lawler

[Fight To Win]

I felt when this fight was first announced that this was going to be a blowout for Lawler and his next defense against Rory/Thompson was almost a foregone conclusion. The more I think about the fight though the more I think this fight is tailor-made for Woodley style-wise. Lawler's best rounds are the first and fifth and I think Woodley can take the rounds in between clearly and win a unanimous decision with his wrestling.

I think his wrestling skills are on par with Hendricks' if not better and Hendricks was able to slow the pace down with Lawler pretty easily in the intervening rounds between the first and fifth. I'm very concerned about this fight the more I think about that.

Ask Hendricks. Wonderboy is tough, after tonight we should have more perspective. Right now, IMO Lawler would be the slight favorite.

Lawler hasn't been blowing anyone out. And arguably lost to both Hendricks and Condit. He was losing on the cards to Rory.

I expect possibly another tough and close fight, and Woodley has a good chance. I just don't think he deserves the shot.

Robbie has been visibly hurt in his past two fights. His ability to take shots is diminishing.

That fact alone makes this a closer fight than most expect.

Woodley has been out for a long time, and I don't see him using his wrestling against Robbie.
Anything can happen, like always, but I would favor Robbie.

Woodley has a good skill set and he's an excellent athlete.

But he's not tough. Or at least we haven't seen it from him yet. The big question is how he's gonna react when Robbie really hurts him bad.

Cuz Robbie's gonna really hurt him bad.

If he can keep his wits about him, he might have a chance.

I don't see it happening.

I don't know who is better in the wrestling Hendricks or Woodley.. but I feel Hendricks is better standing, its true Woodley has some power early, mainly in first 3 minutes, but after that his power is gone and starts to fade. He is very tentative on the feet for the most part. I'll say if this leaves the first round then I can only see Lawler winning.

Woodleys gas tank will play a huge factor as he tends to fade late and Lawler goes into berserker mode late in fights.

Much better than people think, especially given how reluctant and passive Lawler has looked in all the early rounds since becoming champ.

He can't start fighting in the 5th and beat him, that's for sure.

It's why I'm picking the upset, even though I hope Lawler wins because I fear Woodley will be one of those champs that defends once every 18 months.

Really hard fight to predict a clear favorite

Lawler loses all his fights lately but gets a BS decision/ultra late stoppage after being soundly outfought
Woodley has a questionable gastank
Lawler takes full rounds off at times.
Both have huge power
Lawlers taken a lot of punishment

Woodley is criminally underrated on here based on two bad fights the shileds debacle and getting ko'd by nate late in the fight because he was gassed. Woodley is scary because his power is "explosive", yes it really is, and he can get the fight to the ground on most guys. He isnt getting Robbie to the ground at least not without eating some bombs. So the question is will tyrons chin withstand robbies punches and knees while he goes for takedowns. idk, but counting Woodley out 100% is very very foolish.

I question TWoods gas tank but this is a dangerous fight for Robbie. Wood has the power to knock Lawler out but if it goes to the championship rounds Lawlers pressure and aggressiveness will finish Woodley IMO. Picking Robbie by TKO in the 4th
