General MMA Discussion & Future Lines - March, 2017

Darting in and out against Anderson Silva? Cmon man, whilst Anderson Silva's striking has decayed, he hasn't fallen off a cliff. Just remember the ridiculous size difference also.

Isnt Tim Kennedy bigger if not as big as AS? Hell Vitor was a damn HW and LHW and Kelvin took him out. Size is a minuscule factor here, Kelvin also has the chin.

Whilst I favour Gastelum, Silva looked pretty decent against a monster in Brunson (albeit, a fight I thought he lost). I don't think Gastelum has such an easy ride, ill be looking to bet Anderson at juicy odds.

Besides length and strength. Kelvin is technically better everywhere.

Didn't Kennedy out muscle Gastelum quite significantly in the first round, until he gassed hard? I also don't hold any stock in a win over Belfort nowadays, the man is a shell

He gassed because Kelvin made him gas by making him work to stay on top, besides Tims game is different to Silva's. Size comes into play mainly during the wrestling and grappling aspects which Silva wont use. That 1-2 from Kelvin is gonna cause problems.

Don't disagree, but the relative success Silva had with Brunson in the clinch and with his TDD, I think he gives Gas a much tougher fight than people expect. I'll be playing Gas at -180 or better tbh, but if I don't get that price, its 1u Silva all day long.

Disagree, I still think Anderson can give Gastelum issues standing.

That was regarding Brunson. Unless you disagree with that.
Gastelum MMA wrestling and striking is levels above Brunson. Brunson does have the length on Gast and likely the strength.

If it's the Silva we saw vs Brunson he's gonna look like he's stuck in mud vs Kelvin.

I will put my entire bankroll on Kelvin if the price is right, there is no way he's losing this.

Ah, ok, but still disagree, think Brunson and Gas are pretty even wrasslin wise, and do agree that Kelvin shouldn't lose this, but its definitely not an easy fight for him. I ain't biting unless there's value on him (-180 and lower, which I think there will be)

Bellator: Darrion Caldwell is out, LFA champion Leandro Higo is in against Eduardo Dantas for the Bellator title.

This is actually a much better match-up, imo. Caldwell would've made thinge boring with his wrestling.

Thought I was gonna get a good price on Caldwell so kind of disappointed. Dantas gonna own Higo

That's silly

it really isn't and you'll understand why when you see both of them move around in the cage, it's going to look like silva is standing still when compared to kelvin. silva struggled badly with weidman's hands three+ years ago, kelvin's handspeed is way faster then that. and kelvin hits hard, and he's accurate.

Very well could be. I'm not making a play on Gastelum at these odds, which I think are inflated with him coming off of wins over Tim Kennedy (who had one foot out the door) and current day Vitor. I'd argue Anderson struggled more with the length of Weidman more than his hands. Guess we'll see, but I dont think I'd find any value in Gastelum

Very well

any kind of + on kelvin to finish silva should have good value, silva is nowhere near active enough to steal a decision against kelvin really.

Dana White was just on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show and when asked point blank if he thinks that the Conor/Floyd boxing match was going to happen he flatly said "Yes". And then also "That there's too much money on the line for it not to happen." Sounds like this circus may happen for real after all?
