I think that's exactly what he was channeling. It was a lesson from the Hendo fight -- ride the back and throw upper cuts under the arm.

There was also the lesson not to slow down even for a moment once someone is stunned. He thought Hendo was pretty much done and got a mean surprise.

Very accurate observations as far as how the fight played out but we can't say with 100% certainty that the Hendo fight is what fueled him to victory. Fedor never hesitates when someone is stunned, it just seemed that way because Hendo was back pedaling away from Fedors Flurry taking it longer for Hendo to finally fall down. In this fight Mir pretty much fell where he stood and Fedor was already above him dropping bombs

I hated watching him look even slower and less capable than ever.... but I loved that finish. I've had a truly shit week, but at least I got a nostalgia win by the senior-tour GOAT.

@BEATDOWNS What did Fedor learn from the Hendo fight? how to pressure your opponent and throw an under the armpit uppercut? My guess is he already knew how to do that before his fight with Hendo. The Mir fight just happened to end in a similar fashion. It wasn't like Fedor was thinking "I'm going to go with the same scramble and under the armpit upper cut that Hendo used on me".

That was very satisfying. I tend to not be very optimistic these days when it comes to Fedor so it's good to see shades of the old Last Emperor, including his Judo takedown of Mir. It would be nice to see more of that rather than the wild brawling.

Besides the throw, this looked like an amateur fight. Fedor not moving his head and getting dropped within a few seconds was laughable. The way Mir threw a punch before getting KO'd was ridiculous. Completely off balance. Even if Fedor hadn't KO'd him, he would have fallen head-first into the cage.

Fedor has crazy angles. In real time it didn’t look like shit.
He catches him coming forward whilst he is on the back foot.
Very hendo- esque finish there but in reverse too
