I think that's exactly what he was channeling. It was a lesson from the Hendo fight -- ride the back and throw upper cuts under the arm.
There was also the lesson not to slow down even for a moment once someone is stunned. He thought Hendo was pretty much done and got a mean surprise.
Very accurate observations as far as how the fight played out but we can't say with 100% certainty that the Hendo fight is what fueled him to victory. Fedor never hesitates when someone is stunned, it just seemed that way because Hendo was back pedaling away from Fedors Flurry taking it longer for Hendo to finally fall down. In this fight Mir pretty much fell where he stood and Fedor was already above him dropping bombs
