Blizzard/Activision, how far will they fall?

hopefully their stock drops to 20 again. would be a decent buy. they’ve already lost half their price just going back to october.

Company played a major role in my early years of gaming, and now they are just absolutely shitting the bed. Shitting the whole house. They are just exploding with shit, EVERYWHERE.

Blizzard is really going to shit these days. Sad to see, never seen a gaming company so out of touch with its fans.

Saturo Iwata takes a paycut when the Wii U and 3DS were struggling to save morale and help save jobs at Nintendo.

This fat fuck Robert Kotick running Activision takes home like 30 million a year, Activision has a record year and they lay off 800 employees. Fuck activision. I almost feel bad I started Destiny 2 but then remembered Bungie dipped out from Acti so its all good mane.

Almost as much of a punchable face as Martin Shkreli.

Yong with another solid vid.

On that note, it is kind of amazing watching these established videogame companies just totally shit the bed, like they don't understand the industry they're in. I've defended Blizzard as a company overall in here, but goddamn, what was up with that "Diablo: Immortal"reveal? How did they not see the backlash coming?

Same with EA and all of their fuck ups over the past few years.

Shit, remember when Xbox One was revealed as a television machine? This came after them breaking through in the videogame market with a solid foundation built on pure gaming with the 360. Then some way overpaid moron decided that what people wanted with the next console was a TV box, and they've never really recovered since.

The sheer ineptitude really does boggle the mind.

That was the correct marketing path. For its the only value a console brings over a Pc and smartphone.

Those pesky sales numbers for units sold of both consoles and games, refute that claim.

Apparently, the people see far more value in console gaming, than they do PC. Far less hassle too...with better games, and less troubleshooting, and crashes, and upgrade requirements, and the general irritation that comes with PC gaming, that only the nerdiest of the nerds enjoy dealing with.

I know a few people who work at Blizzard. This sucks for them.

Activision seems to be biting the hand that feeds them with the Blizzard layoffs.

Blizzard can only milk WOW for so much longer.

{<huh}

sure, until the end of the ps2/orginal xbox era.

now consoles are more irritating than PCs - with hard drives that are tiny, requiring subscriptions to play online, data vulnerabilities, freezes, crashes, constant forced updates, etc. long gone are the days when you can just turn it on, pop in a new game, and start playing.

as for better games... umm... huh?

The online fee is the only thing that is a solid complaint. Freezes and crashes? LOL. I mean sure, they occur, but compared to PC...lulz. At least on console, when a game crashes, it's either a freak occurrence, or a universal glitch that is corrected with a universal patch that works on all machines. When a game crashes on PC, you gotta bring out the big book of "One Billion Reasons Why Your Game Might've Crashed", and troubleshoot the problem yourself.

Forced updates? Who cares? You're telling me you don't have to update all the components of PC regularly? LOL. As for data vulnerability, I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't see one worse than the other, except for with PC, there are far more avenues for hackers to steal your shit. It's nothing I've ever worried about on either though, so whatever.

as for better games... umm... huh?

Yeah, the exclusives on consoles are far better than the exclusives on PC. Also, developers are now thinking console first, which is why PC gets so many piss poor versions that have way more problems than their console counterparts.

yeahhhhhh, no.

i've had a lot of freezes on playstations since the ps3 (borderlands 2 froze a lot, especially with gauge). on the ps4, i had frequent freezes/crashes with warframe and even some more recently whwn i played rdr2.

it's not a PC issue.

Forced updates? Who cares? You're telling me you don't have to update all the components of PC regularly?

huh?

i wasn't talking about components. also, no. but also, it's easier/cheaper to upgrade components for a PC than a console - and it's generally better that way. ie: wait x years for the next gen console or upgrade to the new upgraded console... or just add whatever's bottlenecking (ie: ram, gpu).

i was talking about the days of turning on the console and quickly playing a game are long gone.

LOL. As for data vulnerability, I have no idea what you're talking about.

WAT

psn had a few notorious breaches. xbox had at least one major one, too. both were victims to ddos attacks taking down the entire online play (ie: lizardsquad)

the exclusive have been meh, at best. rdr2 sucked. bloodborne was the only one worth mentioning, iirc.

and there are way more games needing a pc to play or are vastly better to play on pc. i'm not sure there's a single game that's better on console.

A couple years ago I would have laughed at the notion, but I think lately the console exclusives have been catching up. I agree that any game that you can play on PC or console is better on PC, but stuff like Last of Us, God of War, Spiderman, RDR2, etc have all been huge games that PC only gamers are missing out on, although its heavily rumored RD2 will eventually get a PC release. I think the indie market is where the PC tends to overshadow consoles more so than AAA releases. Offhand I cant recall the last big AAA PC game that was PC only except Xcom 2. Im probably missing something. Was Frostpunk on consoles? Also obviously the MMO market is pretty cornered by PC.

I've had both and I've had issues with both PC and console. My PC has been great no issues with anything if a game crashes it's no different than PS4 I restart it. In fact out of the two my PS4 has caused me more issues because my PS4 stopped reading disk and there's no way to fix that so I'm kind of pissed about that. Then again I work in IT so any PC issues, replacing\upgrading is very easy for me.

As far as exclusives only Sony has an advantage IMO. Nintendos exclusives your not really missing much hell you can play the Zelda game on PC easily and it's looks gorgeous. IMO with PSnow it's only a matter of time until PC players can play everything.

it's not just mmo. but yeah, that's what i meant. some genres are just better suited for pc. ie: arpg, strategy, etc.

and i just haven't been too swayed by exclusives yet.

i can even give a pass to shooters since everyone's on an equal playing field (ie: controller vs controller)

The ARPG genre seems pretty stagnant at the moment, doesnt it? Its still either D3 or PoE. Only thing on the horizon thats even moving my needle is Wolcen. I keep thinking someone somewhere has to see that the Lost Ark ARPG is getting people interested and it probably wont ever even make it to the west. Im crossing my fingers somebody can just put two and two together that an ARPG MMO could be the next big thing. Someone that would make it good, anyway.

pretty much. but my point was how blizz marketed diablow reaper to the console retards and it seemed to do well. i guess the dumbed down mechanics work ok with a controller, though - it makes me wonder if that was the intent, all along.

poe is on the xbox and about to be on the ps4, i guess. and i can't fathom why. it can't possibly be any good to play on a controller, outside of a few skills (and recent ones, which were clearly designed after they knew they'd be making console ports).

You are wrong on almost every point you've made.

Huh? I think they recovered. And pretty damn well too. That dipshit Don Mattrick is out and Based Phil is in. They removed all that DRM, always online, can't borrow or rent games crap and discontinued the shitty Kinect. They were the first to push xplay and are playing nice with Nintendo. The only thing they've sucked on is exclusives and even then they are ramping up hard for 9th gen.

They recovered on messaging. They are still lagging far behind the competition though, and I think a small part of that is from that initial clusterfuck of a reveal and launch. They really dug themselves a hole, that they've been stuck in ever since.

Yeah, they look primed and ready for next gen. I was just saying, the way they rolled out the Xbox One was mind-bogglingly inept, and it's amazing that companies that should know their customer base by now, can still make such insane missteps. I mean, they took every last bit of momentum the 360 had going into 8th gen, and flushed it down the toilet in record time. It just blows me away that these companies can have years of prep, data, and experience, and then come up with such comically bad marketing campaigns, that turn off damn near everyone.

As for exclusives, yeah, they've quietly swept up some companies and look prepared to deliver going forward. They really need something fresh to stick out though. The days of relying on Halo and Gears to sell systems are over. They need a new killer app.
